Overview:

What is Smart Deploy !!

Smart Deploy is Windows imaging software to use remote image deployment. It


provides single console for image management. with the help of Smart Deploy console we
can create golden image integrated with all required hardware drivers and application.

Why Smart Deploy?

What cannot be done by Existing On tools:


We can install our customized OS through existing tools like MDT/SCCM. But only when the
devices are in TCS office (LAN) network. Also by using Intune, we can “wipe” the enrolled
devices which will bring them to native OS and removed any hardening applied. Also, the
device drivers then need to be installed manually.
• We can rebuild OS crashed system with Smart Deploy tool, but not with MDT/ SCCM and
Intune.
• With Smart Deploy, we can install OS on any remote devices over the internet
irrespective to any geographical location.
• We can Deploy application / Wipe and rebuild the systems with Smart Deploy.
• We can upgrade Operating System seamlessly.
Hardware Pre-requisite

• RAM: Minimum 4 GB*


• Processor: 1.5 GHz or higher x64 bit
• Disk Space: 40 GB or higher (16 GB for Win10)*
• Display Resolution: 1024 x 768 or higher
• USB Pen Drive
• High-Speed internet connection*
• Personal Laptop / Desktop to make bootable Device.
Smart Deploy WorkFlow
Endpoints OS Build can support below Methods:

• OS installation using USB / CD : boot.wim will be mounted from USB


Media. Will connect to the Share for downloading/install OS Image.

• Agent Based OS installation: Smart Deploy client installed on system


will help to report the system to Smart Deploy central console and
through that we can push the image deployment on preinstalled OS.
USB / DVD boot Method

• This is manual method where if the device is at remote location, the end user
must perform the following steps to format and install OS on device.
• Download the common ISO from Below link for all OEM models.

Create Bootable Device using ISO file.
• Once it is done, then insert the pen drive / CD in the system which need to be
format or image. Then select the bootable device from the boot menu.
HP – Boot menu - F9 Key
Dell – Boot Menu - F12 Key.
Lenovo – Boot Menu – F12 Key
Device will start loading of Smart deploy image with below screen
It will get IP assigned automatically if network drivers are available in
Windows PE. You can see extreme right bottom where all the device
information is displayed
If its not get auto IP assigned , then we must do manual settings for
network connection.
Click on Setting → Hardware → Network Adaptors
Check network adaptor drivers for wired & wireless connection.
If its showing both then its good to go with any connection.
if want to connect WIFI, click on Wireless tab → search your router name
and connect the to network after putting password.
Connection to the network must be done in Network Tab,
Now we can start imaging process post successful connection.
Click on “Deploy an image” on screen.
Process is started image deployment through Smart deploy Console.
If get below window pop-up, it indicates drivers set is not uploaded on cloud for this
device & system will get formatted with basic supported drivers.
Post proceeding, system starts further process.
This complete process will take approximately 1 hour 30 min. & Post completing the imaging
must put credentials.
Username: Administrator
Password: Will share on email.
Pre-Installed OS Build Method.

• Image installation through Console is the other way to deploy OS on


the devices.
• Smart deploy agent needs to be installed on target system.
• Target system will reflect on console under Computer Management.
• Select target system and click on Deploy Image. (as shown in image)
