Temperature Calibrator - Guideliness

The document provides guidelines for calibrating a temperature calibrator. It outlines preparing the instrument for calibration by documenting details, checking for damage, and allowing temperature stabilization. Calibration involves setting temperatures across the full scale of the instrument and comparing readings to a master probe to check accuracy. Adjustments are made if needed and calibration results documented. Precautions include checking the voltage and avoiding damage from temperature extremes. Standards referenced for calibration include BS 1041-4 and the manufacturer's manual.

INSPECTION & CALIBRATION GUIDELINES FOR
TEMPERATURE CALIBRATOR
1.0 PREPARATION
1.1 Prepare a detailed job sheet (take the Instrument details make, model, range, resolution, serial
number, description, accuracy).
1.2 Check for any physical damages on the instrument and make a note of it in the job sheet
1.3 Keep the temperature calibrator at one place that the temperature and humidity are within the
acceptable limits. (Acceptable limit: Temp: 20° C ± 2° C and Humidity: 60% RH ± 5% RH) for at least
30 minutes for stabilization.
1.4 Clean the instruments thoroughly before calibration.
1.5 Insert the Master temperature Probe (Certified instrument) to the calibrator well.
1.6 Turn Instrument ON and a warmup time of 2 minutes or per manufacturer's
catalogue (whichever is higher).
2.0 CALIBRATION
2.1 Power up the calibrator and set the temperature.
2.2 Simulate various temperatures to be set measurement such as 25%,50%,75%,100 % steps
to measure a linearity characteristic. (Ensure that at least 90% of the full scale is cover while
calibrating). If this not followed indicate the same in 'Remarks' column the job sheet.
2.3 Compare the values with master instruments and note down the values.
2.4 Carry out necessary adjustments to ensure the equipment accuracy to be with
manufacturer's stated accuracy.
2.5 Note down the 'As found' and 'As left' readings carefully in the job sheet.
2.6 Calculate the Error and check if the error is within accuracy limits. If not provide Test
Certificate.
3.0 PRECAUTIONS

3.1 Before power on the unit, check the supply voltage and connect correct voltage to
avoid the damage of unit.
3.2 To avoid the damage of the coil after using the unit set the temperature to 35 degrees.
Once a temperature reached below of 50 Degrees turn off the unit.
