CHAPTER III

Research Method and Procedure

Research Design

This study explored in the effectiveness of social media platform in


education among teachers and students. It utilized the quantitative research
design. Quantitative research gathers quantifiable information that can be used
for statistical inference on target audience through data analysis. As a
consequence, this type of research takes the form of closed-ended questions,
which limits its ability to provide unique insight.

The study mainly focusing on the effectiveness of social media platform in


education on Asian Institute of Computer Studies (AICS). The researchers used
quantitative method of research for this is the most appropriate means of
evaluating the development and analysis of the enrollment system of the school
mentioned.

According to Gurbuz (2017), a survey in the form of a quantitative method is


commonly used to collect data by researchers due to the time constraint, low
budget, mass target, and simple application. The distribution method was
chosen because online surveys are cost-effective, and the insights gathered are
often highly accurate.

Aggarwal and Rangganathan (2019) stated that descriptive research design is a


scientific method which involves observing and describing the behavior of a
subject without influencing it in any way. Described research is a purposive
process of gathering, analyzing, classifying, and tabulating data about
prevailing conditions, practices, processes, trends, and cause-effect relationship
and then making adequate and accurate interpretation about such data with or
without or sometimes.

Subject of the Study

In this study a senior high schools students and the teachers of Asian Institute
of Computer Studies (AICS) will serve as the subject of the study. The school
is located in P. Burgos cor. Alegre St. Barangay 11, Batangas City. Will have
thirty (30) respondents selected as part of the sample using availability
sampling.

Data Gathering Instrument

A survey questioner was used for collecting data for the study. The
questioner used in the data collection discusses the Effectiveness of Social
Media Platform in Education among Teachers and Students, it is proven to be
much more effective for those type of research that we are having. These
researchers also used as a method of data gathering and it is known to have less
bias, least expensive way of collecting data. To encourage, the respondent
should be more cooperative due to the fact that is much comfortable to
responded.

Contruction of the Questionnaire. The researcher will record and organize


the data for analysis after conceptualizing and operationalizing variables as
question. All respondents were asked relevant and meaningful questions by by
the researcher. Questions for the survey are derived from the connected topics.
The question were designed to be as objective as possible. The survey
questionnaire was used to gather the necessary information for the study. It is a
tool or device for securing answer to the set of question made and adopted by
the researchers.

Validation of the Questionnaire. The questionnaire were presented for the


evidence by the researchers. It has been shown to the research adviser. The
validation questionnaire reminds respondents that they have missed answering
a question and should go back and answer it. It can assist in the collection of
the relevant data for the study and it also raises the amount of the questions a
participants in a survey answers. For the item’s improvement, suggestion and
correction were given. The questionnaire was obligated to fulfill the goal for
which it was created, and the researchers engaged with the research adviser on
a regular basis for additional suggestion and constructive criticism on the study.
To validate the hypothesis the survey will be applied to data gathering from
open-ended questions. Each answer will be read more than once. The emerging
themes will be identified and lastly, harmonization of codes and themes will be
examined. Significant ideas and statements the participants are also be included
as quotations to illustrate the findings.

Administration of the Questionnaire. Following the creation and validation


of the questionnaire. The research adviser and associates forwarded the letter of
request to the administrator of the Asian Institute of Computer Studies -
Batangas branch. Before distributing the questionnaire, the researcher made a
list of all of their respondents’ names in order to collect a data via survey.
Following the listing names, the researcher delivered the questionnaire to the
respondent and asked them to complete it. The researchers waited a few
minutes for the respondents to finish filling out the questionnaire before
sending it back to them. The researchers will reanalyzed half of the data to
establish the reliability of the codes generated in the data analysis process,
these will justified the validity and reliability of test material.

Scoring of Responses
The respondent’s responses were tallied to determine the score and
percentage of the answer. The said questionnaire will be conducted, validated
and administered. The questionnaire will be scored based on what the
respondent conclude. The researchers used the survey to assess four-points
scale to score the benefits of the respondents.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researcher undergoes step-by-step several procedures of gathering


the information needed in the study. First, they listed the names of their
respondents and interviewed them. After the necessary information about the
respondents was obtained, the questionnaire was distributed to the respondents.

Statistical Treatment of Data

All the responses reflected on the questionnaire were recorded in a data


sheet. To know the accuracy and the effectiveness of the data, entire were
treated with the use of the following statistical tools.

Percentage. This was used for distribution of demographic profile of


the respondents with respect to age and gender.

Percentage/ Ranking. This was used to determine the frequency counts


and percentage distribution of personal related variables of the respondents.

Weighted Mean. This was used to describe the satisfaction of


respondents about the effect of new normal in educational performance of
students.
