GRIFOLS Wadiana and Erytra Activity
Instruction: Answer the following guide questions comprehensively.
1. What does “100% use of cards“ and optimized reagent consumption mean? Do you
consider this feature as advantage of automated machine for blood banking? Explain
your answer (5pts)
● The 100% use of cards means exclusive simultaneous perforation and dispensing
technology and helps prevent cross-contamination. I consider it an advantage since it
gives the most precise results and intuitive operation, which is easy to operate,
maintain and support.
2. How can automated machines in blood banking reduce the possibility of errors to
ensure safety throughout processing? (5pts)
● GRIFOLS Wadiana and Erytra reduce the possibility of errors because gel columns
are pierced one at a time, preventing sample cross-contamination. Data is
automatically entered as the machines identify the samples and reagents. This
eliminates clerical errors. Finally, to ensure a good ratio, the required volume for
dispensing is constantly monitored via well imaging. Safety is assured throughout the
processing using these safeguards. Moreover, Automation eliminates manual errors,
reduces labor requirements, and provides consistent performance. Large blood
centers have a high workload, which increases the risk of human error and
compromises blood safety. Having a skilled workforce can be challenging at times.
3. Give the difference between the two machines using the following tabular format.
