Let’s now proceed to the types of interviews, there are two types of interviews.

The first one is the


informational interview and the second one is the Explanatory interview.

In informational interview, it seeks to draw out information such as facts, ideas, opinions, etc. it refers to
a casual conversation between a job applicant and someone who works at a company that they want to
be a part of. It is usually the result of a successful networking opportunity, allowing you to learn more
about a particular job and company from someone who is already working in the industry. The
informational interview provides information that can also help you determine what opportunities are
available. It may be a casual conversation, but if you handle it correctly, you may be one step closer to
the job that you want.

The purpose of explanatory interview is to exchange information, through discussion and review. The
interviewer invites the subject to add information about his thoughts. The explanatory interview gives
access to the unconscious acts that comprise an action and the unconscious nature of the intention
behind the action.

Example of an explanatory interviews are: job interview, performance appraisals, counseling interview,
sales interview, grievance interview and the exit interview.

I relate these strategies to a hiring interview since it is common to interview someone before accepting
applicants

The main purpose of conducting job interviews in an employer’s perspective is to get an insight in to the
personality, competencies, capabilities and achievement of the interviewee.

Next is to be knowledgeable about the topic. It is important to prepare thoroughly before conducting an
interview so that the whole process would be smooth and you don’t come across errors,
disorganizations which can cause you to lose track of the interview and end up wasting your and the
interviewee’s time.

prepare a list of questions - Create a list of questions that are tailored to the role you are hiring for,
such as questions relating to skills, job knowledge, and work history. You should also include
behavioral and situational questions to give you a good idea of how the candidate handles challenging
situations. Preparing a list will also ensure that you ask each candidate similar questions. And you can
compare each one of them based on their answers.
research about your interviewee - Be sure to brush up on the interviewee's skills and employment
history beforehand by reading their resume, and print out a copy for reference during the
interview.

During the interview process, it’s important to always respond quickly. When scheduling
interviews, it’s common for candidates to have questions or even reschedule several times. Being
flexible and responding immediately is essential in securing their time and creating a great
experience for them. Set aside a quiet place for the interview. Schedule enough time so that the
interview will not be rushed. Inform the candidate well in advance about the location and time of
the interview

before getting hired.

Know the purpose of the interview

Companies like candidates who know what they want from a job. They are also impressed with someone
who has done research before arriving at the interview. Make the effort to look into the organization
you're interested in, and you'll find yourself ahead of the competition.

Research On your interviewer

Know the interviewer’s name, its spelling, and pronunciation. Use it during the interview. If you don’t
know the name, call beforehand and ask the secretary. Also, note the secretary’s name in case you have
to call back. Secretaries can influence the hiring decision. Know what they are interested in so that you
can impress them and know what their dislikes so that you can avoid it

PractIce and prepare for expected questions

You can make all the lists you want, but there's no substitute for rehearsing how you'll handle an
interview. Ask your parent, sibling or friend to be the interviewer, and give him or her a list of questions
to throw at you, especially the hard ones. You will benefit and gain confidence from having thought
about the answers, and you may be able to apply them to questions that you didn't anticipate. If you get
a question you can't answer, simply say you don't know. Then say the question is something to which
you would like to give more thought and that you are willing to learn what it takes. An employer will
respect someone who is honest and open about his or her limitations.
Prepare Proper attire and other necessary materials

Looking professional means looking respectable. Research about the company and look for pictures of
the employees to give you an idea of the overall dress code. While a suit is nearly always appropriate in
a corporate setting, sometimes it does not make sense for the organization. Whatever you choose to
wear, it should be clean, ironed, coordinated and appropriate. Also, be aware of your body language. If
you can record yourself on video, use it for practice. Otherwise a mirror will do, or get feedback from
your parent, sibling or friend. Hand and arm movements shouldn't be too large. Don't fiddle, shake your
leg or tap your fingers. This is unprofessional and may distract your potential employer. Your posture
should be relaxed, but alert. Don't slouch; if you look bored the interviewer will assume you'd be bored
in the job, too.

Also, do not forget extra copy of your resume and other necessary materials. Carry your papers in an
organized manner.

Be punctual

It may seem obvious, but if you're not on time for your interview, the game is over. Getting there early
makes a good impression on the interviewer and allows you to take a few deep breaths, organize your
notes, refresh your memory on any points that you've found difficult in your practices and scan any
company materials that may be available in the waiting room. It also allows you to use the restroom if
needed, freshen your breath and make any last-minute appearance adjustments.
