This webpage is the portal for instructions Instructions to get access to the Expostats

AIHA website description

IHSTAT_Bayes is an Excel-based application that

calculates various exposure statistics from exposure
measurements using a Bayesian model.

It is intended as an enhanced version of IHSTAT

including, thanks to the Bayesian engine, optimal
treatment of non-detects and the probabilities associated
with each AIHA exposure control categories.

Multiple languages are available

The book “A Strategy for Assessing and Managing

Occupational Exposures” is intended to accompany this
tool. It provides critical detail on the use and
interpretation of the various statistical outputs.

This app was developped in a Microsoft environment, it is

unlikely to work on a Mac.

READ before downloading

This is a bit more complicated than just a simple EXCEL

file : you need to dowlowd the 2 files, launch the installer
(setup) and follow the instructions. Once installed, the
tool itself is an EXCEL file within the installation folder
(take care to remember it during installation), open it to
use the tool.

The file needs to stay in that folder in order to work. If you

want to save your results, use the pdf button. To our
knowledge if you save the file in the same folder under
another name, this new file will still work, but not once outside
this folder. Remember that if you used the default installation
folder (in the windows folder), you will needs admin power
and have allowed writing control on this folder.

This Add-In requires the following components:

* Microsoft .NET >= v4.7.2

* Microsoft Visual Studio Tools for Office Runtime (x86 and

x64)

installation Any missing components will be automatically downloaded and

installed during installation of this Add-In.

In EXCEL goto options/trustcenter/trust center settings /

macro setting / in Developper Macro settings click "Trust
access the VBA project object mode"

The first time you install the addin within a folder. You may get
the message shown on the right. Click on "install". This
message will not show again for this folder, even if you
uninstall/reinstall the addin.

uninstalling (2 options)

run the installer again. You'll have the option to "repair" or

"uninstall". This option seems capricious when you have had
errors.

Recommended:in the options / App and features, find the

addin in the app list and select uninstall. The addin appears as
"ExpostatsExcelAddin"

The minimum number of measurements is 1 for calculations to

run.

Note that the Regression on order statistics method used to

generate the QQ plot requires at least 5 points with at least 3
detects. When this criteria is not met, the Bayesian calculation
is still running fine, but no QQ plot is shown and you will see
an error message stating ROS failed.

Calculations take anywhere from 10-20 secs to run, be

patient!

Left censored data are entered as <X, with X the limit of

quantification

Right censored data are entered as >X, with X the right

censoring point

instructions

Interval censored data are entered as [Xinf-Xsup]

The “Percentile” button, when (user) is selected, allows to

estimate any percentile instead of the 95th. It has an impact
on the Percentile estimates and the exposure categories
graph.

Changing the OEL does not impact the Bayesian calculation,

only its interpretation, so testing multiple OELs can easily be
done very quickly.

Note that the calculations are static: the calculations are made
only when you click the “start” button. If you change the data
but do not click “start” the calculations are not launched.
Notable exception : since the OEL is not used by the Bayesian
calculations, you can change the OEL without using “start”,
and the results will change accordingly.

EXCEL versions : the file works on windows 10 and office 360,

we don't know much about earlier versions and even less
about MAC

Technical glitches we already know of

The following message might appear upon launching the file
for the first time. It does not prevent the tool from working
fine.
