What’s New in AutoPlotter 6

Faster drawing engine

AutoPlotter 6 boasts of a much powerful and enhanced core drawing engine which means your outputs
are generated much faster than was earlier required. Saving a project and opening the project takes
lesser amount of time and taking outputs is also much quicker. We have overhauled the internal
drawing engine and memory management completely to achieve this.

Auto-Recovery

In the uneventful situation where you were working on a

project and there system failure, do not panic from now
on. With the Auto-recovery option of AutoPlotter 6 you
can get your project back and continue as if nothing has
happened. You can customize your settings for auto save
time so that AutoPlotter keeps backing up your project as
you work.

Library Importing and Exporting Facility

Now save a lot of time during definition and re-definition of survey library with the Import and Export
feature in Library. Usually when you import the new survey data, code is automatically added in the
survey library and you need to set the properties as per your requirements. From now on, you need to
do it every time. You can just same the library information and export it as a configuration file (CFG).
Later, when you are processing a new set of data, simply apply the previous configuration using Import
option. This way not only do you save a lot of time for Library definition; you can also maintain a unique
set and standard.

Tracking for Survey Information
Survey information is now visible at all times with the new tracking feature. As you move your curser on
top of any surveyed feature, the information for the same is immediately displayed as a tooltip on the
drawing screen. With this feature you save a lot of time to look up survey information. Tracking window
positions itself dynamically on the screen so that maximum drawing details are also visible.

Project Properties & Security
You can now add project specific information such as Title of the project, description, Location where
the project is carried out, your operator information, start of project and end of the project and much
more with the Project Properties option available in your File menu.

You can also secure your project with multiple level of

access. This feature is particularly useful when you are
distributing your project or sharing your project with
others. You can set two separate passwords for your Open
and save option. When someone opens a project which is
secured, user is prompted for a password. If the password
provided is Open password the user can only view the
project but cannot modify the same. Whereas if the user
provides the Save password, user has full control and can
edit and save changes to the project.

your security. You can fill the Project Details
as well.
Importing Data using Clipboard and XML
In Auto Plotter 6 you can now directly import data from clipboard. You can simply copy your data from
Spreadsheet (ExcelTM) and paste it to AutoPlotter. AutoPlotter 6 also supports XML file format and you
can directly import XML file having Northing, Easting & Elevation information. You can also export the
AutoPlotter’s data to XML format.

Data support for more Total Stations

AutoPlotter 6 comes with inbuilt support for raw and coordinate data of Nikon and Focus brand of
instrument. Also support has been provided for newer raw formats of Sokkia and Horizon total station.
Sokkia’s digital level data integration is also available. So rest assured that whatever format of survey
data you may have, AutoPlotter 6 can handle it with ease.

Edit Block with Attribute

Blocks with attributes are widely used in GIS for data linking, but the process of popularizing the data is
usually a cumbersome process and it takes a lot of time and energy to add enter attributes information
to individual blocks. Thanks to the new feature in Auto Plotter 6 the process is as simple as a copy and
paste operation. In the Edit Block Attributes screen as you change the value for a particular attribute,
the same is immediately reflected in the drawing screen. Also you can easily locate the block you are
editing with the tracking facility. Auto-Panning option is included in Edit Block attribute, so that block
being edited is shown in centre of your drawing screen. If you planning to change multiple attributes for
various blocks, you can just paste the data in the table and use the Save All option for update all the
attributes. Attribute information can also be copied from the sheet and pasted to other location with
just a copy operation. With this feature of AutoPlotter 6, adding, editing and retrieving attribute
information is simple & easy.
Linear Interpolation Option- INO
A new feature has been added for interpolation of 3D points based on known elevation reference. With
this option 3d point creation is very easy. You can use any two surveyed point as the reference and can
specify the number of points required between the reference points. 3D points are immediately
generated.

Symbol Update
When you want to insert Symbols in the existing plan using Library, it is now no longer necessary to Re-
Process the complete data. AutoPlotter 6 comes with an Update symbol option which updates (either
adds or changes) the symbols in your current drawing immediately. This way you save a lot of time as re-
processing in not required.
Export Line
If you are tracing the traverse line and you want to get the details of the particular traverse line, (i.e.
Northing, Easting, Elevation, Code, Line type, Color etc) in the excel format, which will be useful for
importing the traverse line once again when required, in AutoPlotter 6 you can select Utils->Export Lines
option to get details of the selected Lines converted in CSV Format.

Contour Area:
For reservoirs, dams or catchment volume calculation, it is sometimes necessary to ascertain the area of
contour for particular elevation and then decide on volume. With the new feature for Contour Area in
Auto plotter 6, getting this information is just a click away. You can get contour area for all the contours,
whether they are open or closed. Closed and Open contours are also marked separately in the view. You
can browse through the contours and any particular elevation contour will be dynamically displayed and
highlighted on the screen. There is an option for Auto-Panning as well, so that whenever you browse
through the contour lists, the drawing automatically pans to show you the current contour.

Bund Calculator
Bunds or embankments are used with steps in high embankment areas. In AutoPlotter 6 a feature has
been provided to calculate step profiles and generate Cross section, longitudinal section, and gets the
Area & Volume based on OGL reference and given FRL levels, in an easy way.
Edit Polyline
The advantages of the new Edit Polyline option in AutoPlotter 6 are Auto-Panning and Jumping to node.
Auto-Panning helps in keeping track of the vertex you are editing by getting in the centre of screen.
Jump to particular node option helps you quickly edit particular node instead of searching individually
from a list and then edit the node. Jumping to node is particularly useful when a route line or corridor
line is being edited as there are several vertex points.

Volume Report
Volume calculation report can now be generated from Route data with the new option for Volume
Report in AutoPlotter 6. You can select the ‘From layer’ and ‘To layer’ and also specify the offset range
between which you want the report to be generated. You can also create an elevation range using the
‘From RL’ and ‘To RL’ option. Calculations can be performed with reference to a fixed datum as well.

Preview into AutoRoads, Alignment menu:
AutoPlotter 6 comes with some basic features of alignment definition. The complete road design
features are available in AutoRoads. In AutoPlotter 6 you can add any number of horizontal alignments
and then fix design curves for the same. The curves added are dynamically linked with the alignment
and changes made on drawing screen using drag node operation is immediately reflected on the
alignment with automatic recalculation and update of display. There are basic design checks available
when you insert curve. Once you have designed your alignment, you can generate the coordinates and
even upload the same to your instrument for set-out purpose.
