The 11 Gateway Tapes
The 11 Gateway Tapes
quality. The following waves are from before they were remastered in 2004 and later. Although
these are not the original versions from the cassette tapes of 1989, they're much closer to the
original.
The old and newer versions of waves 1 to 4 are basically the same and are voiced by Robert
Monroe himself. But if you compare the file sizes and the spectrograms, you'll notice a little
difference in quality.
For example, the 1996 FLAC file of Orientation from Wave 1 is 157MB and has a bitrate of 659
kbps. But the version released after 2004 is 124MB and has a bitrate of 524 kbps.
If you take a look at the spectrograms below of both files, you'll see they aren't identical.
These are all official releases so I don't think they've been tampered with. But I still prefer the
1996 versions in this collection, since they are better in terms of quality.
Although there are some mp3, and m4a versions going around that provide weird experiences. I
can't say if they have anything subliminal added, but a friend of mine had a really bad
experience from such a version. You can identify it easily as there are random clicking noises
that sound very unnatural at some points of the tracks. These might just be corrupted files or
might be intentionally tampered with. I'd avoid them.
Coming to waves 5 and 6, there are different versions. These are the old ones.
These were the original gateway tapes. The guided exercises end at wave 4, at focus 12.
Waves 'Exploring' and 'Prospecting' were non-guided and meant to have free-flowing
experiences of focus 12. But just using these, it wasn't possible to go beyond focus 12. You had
to attend the programs at The Monroe Institute to achieve higher levels of focus.
After Robert Monroe passed away, 'Wave 6 - Prospecting' was discontinued. After that Robert's
daughter, Laurie Monroe and team decided to release exercises with Focus 15 and 21. Laurie
Monroe remade and voiced 'Wave 5 - Exploring', and 'Wave 6 - Odyssey'. 'Exploring' had
additional exercises to focus 12 and focus 15. And 'Odyssey' with exercises for focus 21. And
hence these became the official tapes.
These are the latest versions voiced by Robert Monroe's stepson, A.J Honeycutt. These have
become the current official version of the tapes, and the ones with Laurie's narration have been
discontinued.
This is the latest and original Wave 7 which is produced and voiced by Honeycutt, released in
2017. This Wave adds more exercises for even higher levels of focus, 23 to 27.
For waves 5 and 6, after you've mastered the guided version, I think it's important to go with the
non-guided version to have a much more natural and free-flowing experience. And choosing
between Laurie or Honeycutt's narrated versions is up to the individual to decide. So I've
uploaded all three versions of the tapes.
I've linked direct Google Drive links of 7z files under the Wave titles above.
Here's the link to the entire shared folder.
And Here's the mega link with unzipped files and everything organized in folders.
TL;DR - Basically, there are 11 gateway tapes. The original release had Waves 1 to 6. In 2004,
the unguided Waves 5 and 6 were discontinued and redone with additional guided exercises to
new focus levels, narrated by Robert Monroe's daughter Laurie Monroe.
They were again changed in 2015, narrated and guided by Robert's step son AJ. Honeycutt,
who also produced narrated 'Wave 7 - Voyager', was released in 2019.
