Thyssenkrupppolysius: Girth Gear

The document provides measurement guidelines for a girth gear, including tolerances for axial and radial eccentricity based on diameter size. It details how to measure axial true run, radial true run, backlash, tooth bearing pattern, and bottom clearance. Measurements should be recorded in supplied charts and tables.

The total backlash S results from the measured

working flank backlash Sa plus the measured non-
working flank backlash Se
The working flank backlash Sa should be 0 mm on
the complete width of the tooth during control

Impressions at least at 4 points of the

circumference are said to be clearly visible on
approx. 75% of the load-bearing face width.

Bottom clearance

Measure the bottom clearance after adjustment of Bottom

the correct meshing backlash and enter in the clearance
measurement record.
If the girth gear and the pinion have to be turned
at a later point of time due to wear of the tooth
flanks, the pinion/girth gear will exclusively be
aligned via the bottom clearance.
The bottom clearance is not stated in the drawing
as this measure depends on the manufacturer's
cutting tool.
In operating condition, the bottom clearance is
greater than in the cold condition.

5 - The dial gauge in A starts at measuring point 1.

4 6 - Select the number of measuring points n and enter in table 1. The

distance between A and B is automatically calculated.
- Simultaneously read off the values at A and B and enter in the
3 7 same column.
- Use dial gauges with 1/100 mm resolution.
- Enter the measured values multiplied by 100 in table 2 (5.00 mm =

B 500).
1 (l) - The two dial gauges start at the starting value 5.00 mm. In case
the measuring range of the dial gauge is not adequate: adjust the
starting value correspondingly.
A
- Enter the actual measured values (no differences).

Notes on the measurement
- The dial gauge in C starts measurement at measuring point 1.
- Use dial gauges with 1/100mm resolution.
5 - In the subsequent table the measured values are multiplied by 100
4 (5.00 mm = 500).
6
- The dial gauge starts measurement at starting value 5.00 mm. In
case the measuring range of the dial gauge is not adequate, the
3 7 starting value must be correspondingly adjusted.
- Enter the actual measured values (no differences).
