1 Introduction
The DP Recorder program is used to record all log data in the DP system.
The Kongsberg product K-IMS also require the DP Recorder program to record in order
to show the DP system logs.
The DP Recorder sessions are default setup to be stopped 1 January 2020.
This procedure will describe how to re-enable the recorder session, by manually editing
the Session.ini file.
Note! Be aware that the recorder session might stop if it reaches the end time or if
it reaches the max session size.
If you start a new Recorder template session then you need to perform this
modification anew in the new recorder session folder.
Note! After the procedure is used: Inform Kongsberg Maritime, see Chapter: 7
4 DP OS
This is relevant for the K-Pos systems: DP OS, RMS OS, TC-OS
Note! If the Windows Task Manager is password protected and you do not have this
password, contact Kongsberg Maritime ([email protected])
4.2 DP OS computers:
Locate the folder where the DP software is stored. This will be on the main hard drive
(C:\) on the system root. The DP software folder will have the folder name: DPxxxx,
where the "xxxxx" is the delivery number for your vessel.
Note! Example: DP Delivery number: "6712345", will be stored on the hard disk in
the folder:
C:\Dp6712345
Find the following two folders on your computer (Note: OPCDASERVER is only
relevant for KOGNIFAI / K-IMS):
4.2.1 Crd(System)
The Crd(System) folder is used by the DP OS computer to store recorder sessions files.
DP Class 1 & 2 vessels/rigs shall have only one active recording for the Main DP
system
DP Class 3 vessels/rigs shall have only one active recording for the Main DP system
and only one for the Backup DP system.
C:\dpxxxxx\Run\Config\DP\Os\DpRecorder\Sessions\Crd(System)\
4.2.2 OPCDASERVER
The OPCDASERVER folder is used to send data to the K-IMS
C:\dpxxxxx\Run\Config\DP\Os\DpRecorder\Sessions\OPCDASERVER\
Note! This file will look slightly different on each computer, but the fields that need
to be changed will be equal on all systems.
Inside this Session.ini file you need to manually change two entries and save the file:
Picture showing how this file looks like before the change (marked in Yellow)
Look inside the Crd(system) folder(s) where session.ini file was edited and verify that
there is a new recorder file that is started up.
This recorder file will have a file name that follows the following setup (Year month
day and time in UTC time zone):
yyyy-mm-dd HH-MM.SS-0.crd
When the recorder is recording correctly you can see that the filename "date field" will
show todays date, and you can see that this file is increasing in Size.

5 DP History Station
Note! There might be recorder session folders in here that are stopped on purpose,
if that is the case then there is no need to set the session.ini file to status
recording for those folders.
5.2.2 OPCDASERVER
The OPCDAserver folder is used to send data to the K-IMS
E:\DPRecorder\Sessions\OPCDASERVER\
Note! This file will look slightly different on each computer, but the fields that need
to be changed will be equal on all systems.
Inside this Session.ini file you need to manually change two entries and save the file:
Picture showing how this file looks like before the change (marked in Yellow)
Look inside the CRD folder where session.ini file was edited and verify that there is a
new recorder file that is started up. Or see ch.4.1 and see that status is Recording on the
sessions you started.
Figure 16. Example for recorder file with name: "2020-01-10 15.00.00-0.crd"
Note! The OPCDASERVER will not show any recorder files, and you need to check
the external system to see if it is receiving the data, like example the K-IMS
