LESSON 1
Activity A. 1. Defining Science

Activity B. 1. The Factors of Science

Facets of Science Insight and Reflection
1. Science is a broad body of knowledge The fact that everything are connected to
science, it brings knowledge for us to be aware
of and connects it to different aspects to
develop or enhance our vocabulary

2. Science as a set of skills Science covered different kinds of specialist

where they are good at in specific and
restricted field

3. Science as an intellectual activity Our minds always functioning to improve our

intellectual abilities. It is having an interest to
intellect more advance ways and areas of
expertise

4. Science as a social activity Social activity is influenced by science, which

it’s having social process, wherein, people
interacts and develop their selves on how they
view the world and their surroundings
5. Science as problem solving It provides concrete and scientific explanations
to solve the problems by studying, having a
research, experimentation and other methods
that is applicable and reliable to give answer in
the particular problems

6. Science as a career For me, it is hard to be in this field because

honestly, I don’t see myself to be in this field I
saw this as a complex field of knowledge.
However every time I saw people with this kind
of profession and they enjoyed and love it so
much. I’m always inspire. Science as a career
is one of the most successful and advanced
fields.
7. Science as a global human endeavor Everything that we do and try to improve things
and ourselves, our understanding. Science
always part of it and play its roles.
8. Science as a process Each processes of all developing and
progressing things with or without life are
connected to science.

and cat will remain in the room

such as dogs and cats?

I will bring the cat and dog into the same room where
a sound system is available. I play classical music at a
low volume. Both animals remain in the room. Then, I
change scientist the music to rock-and-roll at the
same volume. Both animals remain in the room.

Based on my experiment, playing I determine the behavior of

classical music at a low volume animals is more affected by the
and then at a high volume. The volume of music being played

the music is quiet and leave the played.
room when the music is loud.
Activity B. 2. The Scientific Method

C. Abstract
Activity C. 1 : The Scientific Irony
Students love Science But They hate Science class
1. Because science is 1. Because some
fun and exciting. topics and activities
2. Because science is in science are
interesting. difficult to absorb
3. Because there are and to do.
experimentation 2. Because its
activities and I enjoy confusing
it. sometimes
4. Because I 3. Because its to may

that is very and perform
unfamiliar to me and 4. Because the words
became aware of it. are too difficult to
understand and
memorize

Favorite/Most Interesting Lesson in Teaching and Learning Strategies
Science
Properties of Matter: Materials that I know this topic is for Grade 4 level. I
absorb water will explained clearly about the
properties of matter, I also asked some
questions that are related to our topic. I
also told us to bring some materials so
that we will observe and understand
clearly what materials that can absorb
water and what is the importance of
having those materials.

Food Chains and Life Cycles Food Chains and Life Cycles. I will
taught as by watching a video
according to our topic that the animals,
plants people changes in a few days,
month or even year. I will also illustrates
some examples that we can understand
III. Lesson Synthesis
1. What should be the purpose for every science class?
The aims of the teaching and study of sciences are to encourage and enable students
to: develop inquiring minds and curiosity about science and the natural world.
acquire knowledge, conceptual understanding and skills to solve problems and make
informed decisions in scientific and other contexts.
We are surrounded by technology and the products of science every day. Public policy
decisions that affect every aspect of our lives are based in scientific evidence. And, of
course, the immensely complex natural world that surrounds us illustrates infinite
scientific concepts. As children grow up in an increasingly technologically and
scientifically advanced world, they need to be scientifically literate to succeed.
Ideally, teaching the science to students is teaching them how to think, learn, solve
problems and make informed decisions. These skills are integral to every aspect of a
student’s education and life, from school to career.
2. What makes an engaging and inspiring science class ? An effective science
teacher? Encourages scientific thinking.
When science & all subjects relate to that student in their life, then it becomes engaging
& effective. Teachers have to explain why science is important, and put it on a level that
say a third grader or a six grader or a ninth grader cannot really understand it but use it
at their level. That’s when it becomes engaging and inspiring and effective. Science is
engaging and inspiring when students find the topics relevant to their lives, both now
and clearly in the future. Also, the more that students can discover science ideas for
themselves, rather than the teacher simply telling them, the more students correct
misconceptions they held before teaching. To make such experiences possible requires
an experienced teacher with a good background in science. Using the content of the
course, all courses, all students benefit from positive relationships, humor, and curiosity.
Build those into a course and you have a great start to effective teaching and learning.

A good teacher is indispensable in pretty much all disciplines. Humans work best in real
relationships. Learning online and from screens is much more difficult than being with
other humans, reading in books, writing on paper. This is especially true of novice
learners who have less background knowledge to anchor new learning.
