For calculating fabric consumption of a garment, as first you need to find out below
information;

● Fabric GSM of the garment


● Garment measurement sheet
● Cutting and sewing allowance

Will calculate fabric consumption by separately ;

● Fabric consumption for body


● Fabric consumption for hood
● Fabric consumption for RIB
● Fabric consumption for pocket

Item: Knitted fleece fabric

● Garment components are front, back, hoodie and long sleeves. Fabric GSM
(Gram per square) is 260.

BODY

Measurement Without allowance With allowance

Body Length (BL) 56 cm = 56 + 3 = 59 cm

Sleeve Length (SL) 51.4 cm = 51.4 + 3 = 54.3 cm

½ Chest 41.5 cm = 41.5 + 3 = 44.5 cm

As per above measurement of this style, the body fabric consumption is;
= (BL + SL) x ½ Chest x 2 x GSM / 10,000 x 1000 + 10% Wastage x Doz.
= (59+54.3) x 44.5 x 2 x 260 / 10,000 x 1000 + 10% x 12
= 3.460 kg / Doz.

HOODIE
Measurement Without allowance With allowance

Hood Height 30.7 cm = 30.7 + 4 = 34.7 cm

½ Hood Width 23 cm = 23 + 4 = 27 cm

As per above measurement of this style, the fabric consumption of hood is;

= Hood Height x ½ Hood Width x 2 x GSM / 10,000 x 1000 + 10% Wastage x Doz.
= 34.7 x 27 x 2 x 260 / 10,000 x 1000 + 10% x 12
= 0.6431 kg / Doz.

RIB

Measurement Without allowance With allowance

½Bottom Rib Length 36.6 cm = 36.6 + 3 = 39.6 cm

Cuff Length 15.6 cm = 15.6 + 4 = 19.6 cm

Bottom Rib Width 6 cm = 6 + 4 = 10 cm

RIB GSM is 340

As per above measurement of this style, the fabric consumption of RIB is;
= (½ Bottom RIB length + Cuff Length) x Bottom Rib Width x 2 x GSM / 10,000 x
1000 + 10% Wastage x Doz.
= (39.6 + 19.6) x 10 x 2 x 340 / 10,000 x 1000 + 10% x 12
= 0.531 kg / Doz.

POCKET

Measurement Without allowance With allowance

Pocket Length 18 cm = 18 + 4 = 22 cm

Pocket Width 28 cm = 28 + 4 = 32 cm
As per above measurement of this style, the fabric consumption of Pocket is;
= Pocket Length x Pocket Width x 2 x GSM / 10,000 x 1000 + 10% Wastage x Doz.
= 22 x 32 x 2 x 260 / 10,000 x 1000 + 10% x 12
= 0.483 kg / Doz

So, as per above consumption of this style, total fabric consumption for hoodie
sweatshirt is;

Body fabric consumption + Hood fabric consumption + RIB fabric consumption +


Pocket fabric consumption
= 3.460 + 0.6431 + 0.531 + 0.483 kg / Doz.
= 5.1171 kg / Doz.

We need total 5.1171 kg per Doz. to complete garment of Hoodie sweatshirt.

CALCULATION OF LABOUR COST

Labour cost - The labour cost is calculated wrt minimum wages in delhi.

SAM - SAM of a product varies according to the work content or simply according to
number of operations, length of seams, fabric types, stitching accuracy needed,
sewing technology to be used etc.

Minimum wage per day = rs 618 Considering per day working hours = 8 hrs = 480

minutes Labour cost per minute = rs 618/480 = rs 1.28

Given, line efficiency = 80%

Therefore direct labour cost of polo shirt Labour cost per polo shirt

= (total SAM X Labour cost per minute)/ Line Efficiency% = (15.99 x 1.28)/ 80%

=25.584 rupees
