Chapter 1:-
INDUSTRY ANALYSIS
Print Media Industry

 Brief history on print media

MilIvo madarchodicevic, a veteran of the Bosnian and Croatian comic industries, formed Print
Media, a Bosnian comic and graphic book publishing firm. Plavi, a science fiction anthology,
was published in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and STRIP Magazine was published in Bosnia and
Herzegovina and the United Kingdom. nn

(The firm began operations in the UK in 2010, producing six issues of the adventure anthology
Strip Magazine for direct sale in comic shops in its inaugural volume, after publishing a variety
of comic publications in Bosnia.)

The title combined action and adventure comics with profiles on comic authors, and was
modelled after European magazines of the same type, with a hint to the weekly British comix.
One of the oldest and most fundamental kinds of mass communication is print media.
Newspapers, weeklies, magazines, monthlies, and other types of printed periodicals are
included. With more in-depth reporting and analysis, print media has the advantage of leaving
a longer impression on the reader's mind. Advertising, the media, and even life itself would be
different if the printed word didn't exist. Newspapers, magazines, and books are used to teach
us about our world. Looking at adverts in the mail helps us determine what we want to
purchase. The way we learn, think, and act in today's society has been affected by printed
media.

It all started out so innocently enough. In the year 105 A.D., a Chinese official named Ts'ai Lun
is credited with inventing paper. Pi Sheng created the first movable type forty years later. It
would take hundreds of years for printing to reach Europe, in the shape of a paper mill in Italy,
in 1276, and another two hundred years for printing to reach Europe in the form of a printing
press in Germany. The Industrial Revolution would usher in a new era for type and publication,
particularly with Lord Stanhope’s invention of the first all cast-iron printing press, doubling the
usable paper size and drastically reducing the use of manual labor. With Lord Stanhope's
development of the first all-cast-iron printing press, the Industrial Revolution would usher in a
new era for type and publication, tripling the usable paper size and substantially reducing the
use of manual labour.
The halftone method was invented in 1880, allowing the first photo to be reproduced in a full
spectrum of tones. As a result, a surge of sensationalist tabloids emerged, as well as a new
craze: celebrities. With great success, tabloids such as the New York Daily News and the New
York Daily Mirror published picture spreads (sometimes actual, sometimes composographs or
distortions) of celebrities such as Rudolph Valentino.

The late nineteenth century and the twentieth century. Television, radio, cinema, newspapers,
magazines, and Internet-based Websites/portals are among the several sorts of mass media
communications in India. Since the late 18th century, India has had a vibrant media. Around
India, print media first emerged in 1780. In 1927, radio transmission began. India's media is
one of the world's oldest. It predates Ashoka's reign by a long time. [1][2] Many of the media
outlets are owned by for-profit corporations that benefit from advertising, subscriptions, and
the sale of copyrighted content.

The Registrar of Newspapers for India had over 100,000 publications registered as of March 31,
2018. India is ranked second. India's print media, India's print media, India's print media, India's
print media List of Indian newspapers and List of Indian newspapers by circulation

More information can be found at Press Trust of India, United News of India, and
Category:Indian Magazines.

Hicky's Bengal Gazette, launched in 1780 under the British Raj by James Augustus Hicky, was
the first newspaper printed in India.

The India Gazette, The Calcutta Gazette, The Madras Courier (1785), and The Bombay Herald
(1789) were among the first to appear. [6] These newspapers reported on the British-
controlled territories. The Bombay Samachar, which was created in 1822 and is currently
published in Gujarati, is Asia's oldest newspaper. Udant Mart was founded on May 30, 1826.
Some elements of the Indian media, which are controlled by businesses, politicians, and
government bureaucrats, have been chastised for biassed, motivated reporting, acting as if
they are owned by one party or the ruling party, and selective presenting. Despite India's
assistance following the deadly earthquake in Nepal on April 25, 2015, Nepalese tweets
effectively said, "Go home, Indian media." Disturbed by corruption, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind
Kejriwal proposed a public trial of Indian media on 3 May 2015. Arun Jaitley, the then-I&B
Minister, echoed similar words on May 8, 2015, claiming that there was a "flood of channels
but a scarcity of information." The term "printing" refers to the process of making multiple
copies of textual or visual content. Relief printing (the subject of this article), intaglio,
lithography, and screen process printing are the four traditional types of printing. Type,
stereotype, electrotype, and letterpress are all types of relief printing. Flexible rubber plates
and quick-drying inks are used in flexographic printing, which is a type of rotary letterpress
printing.
 Application of Michael E Porter’s five forces model of the Industry.

Michael E.Porter’s Five Forces Model to the Industry:

1. Competition in the industry
 Competition from international brands and from the companies in the same industry such
as India today etc
 Different types of products or services provided varies from one industry to another
 Quality differences will be a competition

2. Threat of New entrants:

 Low costs of entry

 Lack of customer loyalty to existing brands than the new one
 Entry of more experienced companies in the industry

3. Power of suppliers:

 More power of bargaining

 More number of suppliers in this industry i.e. companies can shift from one to another
supplier based on price differences

4. Power of customers
 Can change their buying decisions at any time
 Great bargaining power
 Can change their brand preferences based on prices and discounts offered

5. Threat of substitute products:

 Advancement of technology in the industry

 Various social media channels providing the same content
 Different companies providing substitute products such as newspapers etc.
Publishing industry is cyclical and divided into two sectors namely traditional print media and
printing sector. Print media is a well established industry in India. The print industry mainly
includes newspapers, books and magazine publishing. Print media is highly fragmented due to
varied number of languages in the country. Whereas the printing business mainly focuses on
the physical production of India. When coming to magazines in the industry in India recorded
revenue of 5 billion Indian rupees in 2020.When compared to previous years the revenue of
magazines in the year 2020 has declined. The primary objective of the government campaigns
through print media is to secure the most possible coverage of the content or message through
newspapers and periodicals of current affairs as well as science, art, literature, sports, films,
cultural affairs, etc. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting recently released the new
‘Print Media Advertisement policy’ of the Government of India which will be implemented on
august 1st, 2020. As stated in the new guidelines, social media platforms with 25 million
monthly unique users will be eligible for government advertisements and also to promote
the equity and fairness among various categories of newspapers or periodicals.

From the graph(1) in annexure we can say that the statics of print media industry is keep on
increasing till 2017, later it started decreasing slightly from 2018 and decreased in a high level
in the year 2020, later on it started increasing slowly from 2021.

Chapter-4
INTRODUCTION- Conceptual Introduction to the research topic
The study mainly focuses on the work life balance of the employees. Social media is now-a-
days the basic pastime and approachable activity on every break people get from their work.
The study mentions all the aspects of the employees using social media and how it is affecting
the employer employee relationship. Sometimes, it happens like due to the social media
verification of the employess in the company may are not comfortable with the act because,
personal life is affected with it. But, for the sake of job employees have to compromise.

Companies must respect the applicant's privacy and recognise that people behave differently in
different situations. One key factor to remember is that hiring decisions cannot be made
