EMF Tutorial - 3

1. The document discusses magnetic flux density both inside and outside an infinitely long straight conductor carrying a steady current. It provides the equations to calculate flux density at different radial distances. 2. It gives an example of calculating flux density due to a circular coil of 100 ampere turns and area of 70 cm on the axis of the coil at a distance of 10cm from the centre. 3. Another example calculates flux density at the centre and at a point 12cm from the axis of a coil formed by bending a 6mm diameter wire carrying a 100A current into a circle of diameter 10cm.

Example 3.

3 Determine the magnetic fux density both inside and ouside an

infinitely long. straight conductor with a circular cross-section of radius 'a
carrying a steady current . Plot the variation of the flux density with radial

distance.
Solution: Consider a solid cylindrical conductor of radius 'a', infinite in

length, carries a steady state current of I.
