Introductory Message

Welcome to Research Grade 2!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of

the Schools Division of Iloilo and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas
through the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is
developed to guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents and
responsible adults) in helping the learners meet the standards set by the K to
12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed

to guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time
using the contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the
learners in acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for
productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The Research Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the leaching-
learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency
(MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner.
This will be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease
the independent learning.

For the learner:

The Research Activity Sheet is developed to help you continue learning

even if you are not in school. This learning material provides you with
meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an
active learner, carefully read and understand the instructions then perform
the activities and answer the assessments. This will be returned to your
facilitator on the agreed schedule.

RESEARCH 2 ACTIVITY SHEET

I. Learning Competency
Identify the basic similarities and differences between two
text on the same topics (illustration, description or procedure)
II. Background Information
The ability to compare and contrast is an important skill.
These are the ways of exploring the similarities and differences
between two things.
Comparing is showing the similarities, and contrasting is
showing differences between two things that are related in
some way
A Venn Diagram can be used to write down and visually
show comparing and contrasting.
Example:
Peter Rabbit and Peter Cottontail
It was a very hot afternoon. They were two bunnies
looking for food. They were Peter Rabbit and Peter Cottontail.
They differ in many ways from each other but they decided to
share whatever food they will get just to feed their hungry
stomach.
Peter Cottontail lives in a magical forest while Peter
Rabbit lives in a tree in the forest. Peter Cottontail hops down
the bunny trail to get his food every time he’s hungry while
Peter Rabbit hops into Mc Gregor’s garden to look for food. Mr.
Cottontail usually delivers eggs and candies, hides those eggs
and even paints eggs as his job while Mr. Rabbit is naughty and
always gets in trouble.
The two have differences but they are both cute and
wear clothes every time they went out. The two bunnies hop all
day.
The two teamed up just to find food and finally with God’s
grace the two find more carrots and the two enjoyed eating
