RISE UP:
The bird flies up and lands on the electrical wire. The sky
is a bright yet soft blue. It's clear out, although there are
still some fluffy clouds drifting. The small bird hops along
an electrical wire. It perches on a spot after a bit of
indecision.
ANCHOR MAN:
"This just in, rumor has it that a
mysterious drug cartel has been
dispersing a dangerous drug, known as
HHP-49. If you have information about
this, please contact XX-"
ALEX:
"Man, what's up with all the crime
podcasts now. I don't want my moving
day to be sad tragedy jeez. "
She shakes her head, and carries on driving. The music starts
up again.
You can see how high the building go, as if they touched the
sky. They take up half of the skyline, with how massive they
are.
area.
Alex's car pulls up next to the curb. Along the curb, there
are also some other cars and trucks. Occasionally a car
passes by. Some people walk along the streets walking their
dogs. Alex's car stops, and after turning off the engine,
Alex climbs out. She closes the car door behind her and looks
up at a building
VOICE:
"Hey you!"
MID SHOT:
Alex nods.
ALEX:
"Yeah? What's it to you?"
LANDLORD STEVE:
"No, I'm your landlord. You said you
were coming today."
ALEX:
"oh. I forgot about that, sorry."
LANDLORD STEVE:
"Just call me Steve, I'll show you to
your place- do you need help with your
things?"
ALEX:
"No I'm fine."
The man struts into the room, and Alex follows behind. Alex
carries two cardboard boxes with her, and drags along her
suitcase from the car. She sets them down on the floor as the
man turns to her.
LANDLORD STEVE:
"You'll be staying here. Last people
left some of their furniture. You're
free to use it."
ALEX:
"Thanks Steve."
LANDLORD STEVE:
"No problem kid. Here's your key."
LANDLORD STEVE:
"Rents due in a month!"
Steve shuts the door behind him, and Alex is left alone in
her room. Alex stands there for a bit, before the sound of a
phone is heard.
She scrambles a bit and pulls out her phone, dragging it out
of her pocket. It slips at her hand, and she with it a bit
before gaining a firm grasp on the phone.
Someone was calling Alex. The ID reads, Aunt Abi. Alex groans
a bit, before clicking the call button.
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"Hey there birdie! I heard you got a
job in Stale now! How is it over there
in the big city?"
A SPLITSCREEN OF ALEX:
Alex is taking stuff out of boxes and putting them around the
apartment.
ALEX:
"I just got here Aunt Abigail."
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"Ooh! Alex did you hear the news about
that popstar, Mariana Jones?
Apparently she-"
Alex intervenes.
ALEX:
"Aunt Abigail I'm just gonna go now-"
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"Okay dear, be careful though! I hear
there's a some things happening in the
city! Don't let anything happen to my
favorite birdie you hear?"
ALEX:
"Auntie, I'll be fine. Nothing happens
in this city, it's called Stale after
all. Plus how am I your favorite when
I'm your only niece."
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"You know what I mean!"
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"I don't have to worry so much do I?"
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"After all the only thing that's ever
really happened to you is that god
awful fashion sense."
ALEX:
"Rude, my fashion sense is wonderful."
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"I've got to go now, bye."
ALEX:
"Bye Aunt Abigail."
AUNT ABIGAIL:
"Have fun at your job!"
Aunt Abigail hangs up the call. The split screen of Aunt Alex
disappears. Alex looks around her apartment. It's
considerable less empty. Some decorations hangs about here
and there. There's an old couch left by previous owners that
was moved around. Through the windows shine the orangey
yellow light of the sunset.
Alex stretches her arms into the air. She sighs, dropping
them down to swing by her side.
She walks into a room, the room has a mattress on the floor
and some items scattered about. (See: Alex's room ref.)
SCENE:
MID SHOT:
The table has some papers on it, but it's overall pretty
empty. However there is a set of car keys on it.
Alex's red car pulls up into a parking lot. The lot is half
filled, and is next to a larger building.
She scrambles out the car with her bag. She hurries into the
building.
ALEX:
"Ah! Hello there Mrs. I'm Alex I'm

JULIE PORTER:
"You the new person in the management
department?"
ALEX:
"Oh yeah I am how'd you know! My name
is Alex Miller and I'm so happy to be
here right now-"
JULIE PORTER:
"You're on floor 12, here's your card.
And my name is Julie Porter."
ALEX:
"Oh thank you!"
JULIE PORTER:
"I hate new people, that Clove wannabe
hero already made me miss the bus
ugh."
ALEX:
"Geeze what's on her nerves today?"
MANAGER ABOTT:
"Oh? You must be the new paperwork

MANAGER ABOTT:

Aisle 9, Cubicle 24. Now head along
now your work is waiting."
RAT-LIKE MAN:
"hey there, uh, these are the papers
you have to go through."
ALEX:
"Oh, uh thanks I guess?"
RAT-LIKE MAN:
"No need to thank me miss, but word of
advice, get out of this job while you
still can."
MANAGER ABOTT:
"Westley! Get back here you're not on
break yet and these 500 reports won't
file themselves."
WESTLEY:
"Yes sir!"
MANAGER ABOTT:
"Well? GO DO YOUR JOB NEWBIE!"
ALEX:
"SIR YES SIR"
Alex shouts,
ALEX:
"Hey wait- my car!"
However Alex is much too late as the truck has already left
the parking lot. Alex drops her bag and screams in
frustration. Alex's hand grab at her hair as she does so.
SCENE:
SHOT OF STREETLIGHT.
The streets are a bit dim. Not very many people are walking
around so late at night. The concrete sidewalks have weeds
growing in them. A racoon digs through the trash.
Alex groans, cursing her bad luck. She throws her arms up in
the air in exasperation.
ALEX:
"Well, at the very least it's not
raining."
Right after she says that, a flash of lightning and the sound
of thunder is seen/heard. Then the rain pours down. Alex
muffles a scream of frustration.
ALEX:
"I should've grabbed a taxi ugh"
Alex scrambles back and hits a light pole. She groans as her
head hits it. A few moments pass, before the figure steps
into the light. She squints at the figure, a bit fuzzy.
PROMETHEUS AGENT. A:
"Hello there, sorry to startle you.
Are you okay."
ALEX:
"Holy jesus, heck where did you come
from?"
PROMETHEUS AGENT. A:
"Ah, I was just walking around, you?"
ALEX:
"Oh, I was just walking back home."
PROMETHEUS AGENT. A:
"Do you need some help? It looks like
you hit your head there."
ALEX:
"No, no I'm fine."
PROMETHEUS AGENT. A:
"Careful there, do you need some
ibuprofen or something? You should
take some if you're gonna be getting
home yourself."
ALEX:
"Thanks, headaches suck."
ALEX:
"This isn't drugs or something is it?"
PROMETHEUS AGENT. A:
"Ey don't worry, this IS Stale after
all. Nothing ever happens here."
The last part comes out a bit forced. Alex examines the pill
again.
ALEX:
"Okay yeah, that's fair enough."
ALEX:
"You sure this isn't drugs or
something? I've never had a headache
clear up this fast with a pill..."
PROMETHEUS AGENT. A:
"Worry not vessel of Aphrodite, all
will fall in place soon."
ALEX:
"Goddammit it was drugs."
SCENE: UNFINISHED
THE VOID.
Alex appears, eye shown. Alex opens her eyes with a start,
sitting up in the vast emptiness. Alex is not of corporeal
appearance. She takes the appearance of a glowy outline.
WIDE SHOT:
Alex flips around, looking into the dark. She turns around a
bit.
ALEX:
"Hello? Is anyone out there?"
Alex takes a step back. They move forward again, and Alex
moves back. Alex's foot slips, and she screams a soundless
scream and she falls deeper into the void, the imposing
figure standing above her.
SCENE: UNFINISHED
Alex opens her eyes and blinks, face to face with her wall.
She groans as she pushes herself upright in her bed.She turns
her head to face her room, when she sees movement in the
corner of her eye. Alex quickly swivels around, hitting her
head on the wall. She hisses, closing her eyes and calms
herself down. She opens her eyes again, pushing up in a
sitting position. Alex takes in her surroundings. She's in
her room, still about halfway through unpacking. Her coat,
blouse, and shoes are discarded in the corner, along with her
bag.
ALEX:
"What the f-"
ALEX:
"Oh-okay geeze, walking home in the
rain was not the best idea."
ALEX:
"This can't be real. This isn't real."
She puts her palms over her eyes and recoils into herself.
ALEX:
"This is all just a really weird
dream. A really, self aware dream."
ALEX:
"Ow, okay. Not a dream, not a dream."
Alex flips back into a sitting position. She rests her chin
on her hand as she stares at the mirror. Alex stays there for
some time, thinking. She suddenly sits upright, and says with
revelation.
ALEX:
"This is real."
ALEX:
"Ow. Holy crap, this IS real."
Alex turns her head around, taking in the wings on her back.
She gazes in awe. Alex brings a hand up and runs it down one
of the wings.
ALEX:
"Oh my god. Oh my god."
ALEX:
"This is real- holy capoli I have
actual wings!"
ALEX:
"Oh my god, I have wings."
ALEX:
"How I am gonna go to work? Oh no- I
can't go into public ever again"
Alex moans as she cradles her faces into her palms. She looks
up.
ALEX:
"My life is ruined."
ALEX:
"Maybe I could- like hide them or
something. Yeah that'll work. Maybe I
just- stuff them into my shirt or
something."
Alex paces the room while saying this, and turns to her
closet. She throws the drawer open, and burrows her head in,
tossing clothes aside to the mattress and floor.
ALEX:
"Surely I have something,"
ALEX:
"I knew I should have kept this,
horrendous style my face Aunt
Abigail!"
Alex rolls over to the mirror leaned against the wall. She
shifts her back looking at the wings. Alex makes some
gestures, as if measuring something. She holds the sweater up
and goes to put it on.
SCENE: UNFINISHED
The sun beams down hard on the city. People stare as a figure
walks down the street in large, baggy clothes.
SCENE : UNFINISHED
ALEX:
"HA!"
Alex stands tall, looming over the mugger. The mugger squints
at them.
