Introduction (ARIAN)
The recent part of the 20th century saw the advent of a contemporary revolution in
technology that seemed every bit as powerful as the industrial revolution that preceded
it. The impacts and developments of the new 20 th century technologies are not
susceptible to assess as they are still very much part of an ongoing process, that may
well only just beginning. The new technologies that have caused such upheaval are
interrelated and overlapped to some degree they include; computers, new
communication technologies, digital formats, multifunctional devices, and new military
weapons.
“When Technology and Humanity Cross”
>The ever-growing society has made people see technology as some form of
necessity.
-From education to navigating a town, technology has become a need in everyday life.
Instead of communicating with the surrounding world and asking for directions, we turn
inward and utilize Waze or Google Map. We rely heavily on our phones for day-to-day
tasks like checking train times, finding locations, and even just checking the time.
Technology is slowly but steadily making a huge impact on our lives, and we are falling
into the trap of allowing it to.
As a result, we rely extensively on technology for basic chores in modern times, such as
the Internet, which connects people from all over the world for economic and social
reasons, and this how technology became a necessity in our lives.
>Technology comes from the greek word techne and logos that is known to be art and
word.
>Technology present in the current generation is a product of science that aims to give
assistance with smart ways of doing things for humans not to struggle a lot.
>The Technology And Humanity Cross is part of science advancements making the
humans beneficiary of its products. Technology such as Cell phones, Television and
Computers are the common technologies that are commonly used by humans.
>These two interconnects to each other as science creates them to put the way of living
of humans at ease giving them the assurance of communicating, learning and
experiencing life easier.
(MONIKA)
The Cambridge Dictionary defines technology as "the study and knowledge of the
practical, especially industrial, use of scientific discoveries." This broad definition
includes everything from ancient history's use of primitive tools for hunting to today's
cutting-edge smartphones; technology is as old as civilization itself. Technology
nowadays mainly refers to advances in energy, industry, and communication.
Entire industries are dedicated to the creation of newer and better technologies in order
for the humans to live healthier, happier, and longer lives. It's worth pausing to
contemplate what good or harm all of this technological progress has brought us.
Is technology genuinely making us healthier and happier? What are the disadvantages
and advantages of all this advancement? There is little question that future historians
will view this century as the technological Golden Age.
But what else will they say about the current impact of technology on our world? What
will they say about the benefits and drawbacks of present technology on our emerging
century?

“PROS OF TECHNOLOGY IN HUMANITY”

(ELLA MAY)
1. It allows us to experience new cultures.
Technology has allowed the planet to become a smaller place. Over the course of a
day, it is possible to travel to the other side of the world to see new countries, new
cultures, and new opportunities. Even in previous generations, shipbuilding
technologies provided this same benefit. In the future, spacefaring technology could be
the next evolution of this experience.
2. It provides us with deeper insights.
The technology collects massive amounts of data that can be mined for numerous
insights and benefits. These analytics allow us to pinpoint specific weak points that can
be turned into strengths. It can identify new business opportunities, create new learning
opportunities, and help people discover new facets about themselves so they can
achieve more than ever before.
3. It allows us to do more with less.
Imagine what a cutting-edge farm looked like in the early 1800’s. There was no
mechanization. Everything was done by horse or by hand. That limited the yield an area
could produce. Those yields, however, were still greater than what previous generations
could achieve if they didn’t even have equipment to work with horsepower. Every time
there is a technology improvement, we are able to do more, in any industry, with fewer
resources being consumed.
4. It improves profits.
New technologies are always expensive, but that’s because they create more profits. It
is possible today, through technology, for a sole proprietor to run a global business from
their garage or home office. New technologies have created platforms where
freelancers and independent professionals can make more on their own than if they
worked for at traditional employer. Technology can even improve the efficiency of
delivery and distribution mechanisms, which can also improve profits.
5. It makes research become simple.
For children born in the 1980s or before, there was a time when finding information
required a trip to the library or owning an encyclopedia. Today, the technologies of the
data access makes it possible to find out anything at almost any time. Want to know
why your leg is hurting? Need to order some food for dinner? Want to book a vacation?
Can’t remember the name of a movie, but you remember who starred in it? Technology
makes it easy to research, purchase, or discover what we want or need every day.

(GEOMEL)
6. It saves time.
If a worker is able to save 10 minutes of time because of technology, that’s an extra 10
minutes they can do something else. We can save time through technology with
improved communication, improved manufacturing processes, and automated systems.
Computers, after all, can work with greater efficiency when compared to how a human
typically works.
7. The Increase in productivity
In ways that would have been unfathomable just a few decades ago, technology has
played a critical role in increasing company productivity. Who’d have guessed that after
so many years, decades, and centuries, we’d be using technological things that were
formerly nearly difficult to obtain? Machines and robots have been able to reduce
production costs while increasing output. Companies with economies of scale can
create vast amounts of their products in a way that meets market demand, whether it’s
canned foods, clothing, or furniture.
8. People can communicate better and more easily.
The introduction of the Internet, arguably the biggest technological advance of the
previous century, has transformed every area of life and made the globe more
interconnected. Someone in the northern part of the globe can communicate with
someone in the southern part of the globe in a matter of seconds thanks to the Internet
or mobile technology. Everyone is just one click away. When it comes to the internet,
distance is irrelevant. Then came Facebook, which allowed users to share personal
updates and communicate with the rest of the globe. Video conferencing apps allow
people who live far apart to speak virtually face to face. There were just too many to list,
and new communication apps are constantly being developed. Video calls and
conferences are becoming commonplace. The ancient communication barrier of
geographical distance has been permanently removed.

(JANICE)
9. Processes and tasks take less time.
Technology has served as an assist to human efficiency, similar to an artificial arm,
allowing jobs to be accomplished in less time with better results.
10. Allows for Distance Learning
Getting an education in previous ages required the learner to travel to a physical venue
(for example, a university), learn from a live teacher, and read actual books. This
sometimes meant that the least fortunate, or those who resided in towns with poor
transportation, were unable to acquire a proper education. Everything has changed
because of technology. The Internet has made knowledge accessible to everyone;
anyone can now go to Wikipedia and look up information about anything. Educational
materials are easily accessible to anybody. This means that a person can now earn a
degree without ever meeting his or her lecturer in person. Education is now more
accessible than ever before.
11. Helps with health and finding new remedies.
Technology and modern medicine have become inextricably linked; modern medicine
would not be possible without it. In the sphere of medicine, modern technology has
made a significant contribution. Technology is utilized to manufacture pharmaceuticals
in a safe and sufficient quantity to suit the global population’s health demands.
Because of advancements in medical technology, critical drugs can now reach those
who need them the most. Technology is also utilized to develop and manufacture
vaccines that protect us from some of the world’s most dangerous diseases. Today,
technology critically aided humanity’s hunt for a vaccine for the virus pandemic,
numerous of vaccines has reached parts of the world to the people needing it the most.
Technology has made it easier to mass produce it to be of use as a cure for the
pandemic disease.

12. Supplementary Mobility Options
History records that the Wright Brothers invented the airplanes in the early 1900s, which
was hailed as a miracle at the time. Before the previous century, ‘flying’ was a human
fantasy, and nothing more. The invention of airplanes changed everything; it enabled
distant places to be connected in a previously impossible way. Of course, it wasn’t just
planes that changed the way we travel. The advancement in personal and commercial
vehicles, such as cars and trains, have also made mobility easier and faster. Now,
anyone can travel from any major city in the world to another in less than a day.
13. Financial transactions and expenditures are easier and more defensible.
In the past, money always had to be stored in a physical location; thieves could break
into your home and could steal all your money if they found out where you stored it.
Now, money exists in both the physical form as well as the digital, reducing the risk of
losing everything from a single act of physical theft. The advancement in financial
technology also means that entire financial transactions can be completed online.
Moreover, innovative banking smartphone apps can help us make more informed
financial decisions or even save money. The use of single-use codes, multiple
passwords, encryption, etc. have also made financial transactions more secure.
Someone from one country can send money to another person in another without
worrying about the money getting lost in transition. Fraudulent transactions are also
more easily traced and flagged due to technology.
14. The evolution of technology is beneficial to humans for various justifications.
At the medical level, technology can help treat more sick people and consequently save
many lives and combat very harmful viruses and bacteria. The invention of the
computer was a very important point. Communication is thus enhanced, and companies
can communicate more easily with foreign countries. Research is also simplified. For
companies, progress in implementing strategic technology trends is helping them save
time and therefore, money. Exchanges are faster especially with the internet. Sales and
purchases are now facilitated and possible worldwide. This allows businesses to buy
raw materials with discounts or at reduced prices. Similarly, global tourism has grown.
15. Technology is revolutionizing the property industry.
Technology has also increased the productivity of almost every industry in the world.
Thanks to technology, we can even pay with bitcoins instead of using banks. The digital
coin has been such a game changing factor, that many realized that this is the right time
to open a bitcoin demo account. When observed more closely, new things are
discovered every day. Let’s take for instance when radio waves were discovered, radio
broadcasts followed suit almost immediately. The same applies to television and
electricity. If no one had discovered that electricity could be generated, then the
entertainment industry wouldn’t be at its current stage of development. Thus,
technology improves daily lives; allowing us to move physical storage units to virtual
storage banks and more. Scientists of the time are also able to send astronauts to the
moon thanks to technology.
(JOHN ALFRED)
16. The wealth of information that is presently available is astonishing.
In theory, at least having access to the Internet means having access to almost all of
the world’s knowledge increasingly we don’t even need to be sat at a desk to access the
information either as mobile devices become more and more powerful.
17. Technology can now be wielded to advance itself.
Science is benefiting massively from the lightning speeds at that computers can perform
calculations and investigate complex questions that would take humans many lifetimes
to answer medical breakthroughs and chemical and astronomical discoveries have all
been made due to computers six modern technology.
18. Technologies such as television, computers, and Cell phones give humans the
ability to communicate, learn and experience easier. Technology results in isolation and
reduced social interaction and social skills due to the capability to communicate using
these technologies.
19. Scientific Advancements gave humanity safety against possible natural disasters.
The usage of this technology might put the users in danger. Technologies with radiation
may harm the eyesight of humans when overused.
20. Machinery helps humans to produce more manpower without harming people in the
workplace. People, especially children who are not capable yet of rationally deciding for
themselves what is right or wrong, are freely exposed to different things on television,
mobile phones, PCs, etc.

“CONS OF TECHNOLOGY IN HUMANITY”

(JANICE)
Although technology has offered us with undeniable benefits in a variety of ways. It has
also brought with it human downsides. There are two sides to every coin, and the
impact of technology on humans is no different.
What could be the disadvantages of Technology?
1. Technology, although useful, it can be powerfully destructive.
Technology can be “good” or “evil” based on how it is used. Innovation has led to
incredibly destructive, world-altering weapons with atomic, nuclear, and hydrogen
bombs. Hackers can use the internet to steal personal information. In September 2017,
more than 143 million people were affected by a single data breach at Equifax. If
humanity were to ever become extinct, there is a good chance that technology would
provide a needed assist.
2. Technology leads to health problems.
Many forms of technology, from computers to televisions to automobiles, cause people
to sit for a majority of their day. This constant sitting could be just as dangerous to a
person’s health as smoking could be. Consistently using technology can lead to hand,
wrist, and forearm pain, lead to social isolation, and may even be a contributing factor to
the formation of depression-like symptoms.

(GEOMEL)
3. Technology has created a lack of privacy.
If you want to find out a lot of personal information about someone, the technology of
the internet can serve your needs quite effectively. A website like Dirt Search allows you
to enter a phone number, look up a business, or find a person using public records.
Crawlers can put all of your social media feeds onto one page for someone to review
everything you’ve ever posted. Then consider cameras and CCTV in most public
locations and it is possible to track a person’s every movement online and in real life.
4. Technology isn’t cheap.
New technologies are difficult for some socioeconomic groups to access because of
their cost. That includes technologies that we may consider to be essential to life, such
as medical advances. Reaching some nations with standard vaccines or something
basic, like a mosquito net to prevent malaria, can be extremely difficult because of the
costs
5. Technology can be bad for the environment
-Advancements in technology have been overwhelmingly bad for the environment. The
clearest example of this is the widespread production and use of plastic and factory
emissions. Another example is the unchecked activities of the logging industry in some
countries. Never in history has human behavior contributed so acutely to damaging the
environment and wildlife; it is a modern tragedy.
6. Technology might be able to replace humans in jobs.
-The important role that technology plays in automation has a dark side — if every part
of the manufacturing process can be automated, why hire humans at all? Technological
automation can typically produce greater results with fewer mistakes. The threat of
technology to human jobs is ominous — a world in which technology has a monopoly on
the manufacturing process is simply unsustainable. If technology advances beyond the
political will to save jobs, it could spell disaster for millions.
(MONIKA)
7. Technology can distract students from studying.
-Technology has indeed made learning more fun and interactive for many, however, it
can only confer such benefits if one is interested to learn in the first place. Many young
students have access to hand phones today, especially those living in advanced
countries. The problem with mobile devices is that it is a gateway to a world of
distractions, from social media posts to memes to YouTube videos. A minute of
distraction can easily turn into hours. This poses a considerable challenge to educators.
8. Technology lowers socializing (social disconnect)
-The paradoxical effect of technology is that it has simultaneously made the world more
interconnected and less interconnected.
How does this happen? By making remote communication so easy, technology has
also disincentives in-person socialization. As people become more connected digitally,
they have sadly also become more disconnected socially. Technology does a great job
of giving the ‘illusion’ of a full social life in the absence of a real one.
9. Malfunctions of technology can cause severe problems
-The world in the 21st century is heavily reliant on technology — sometimes too reliant.
If all of our lives are lived digitally — from our relationships to our work to our shopping
— what will happen if the Internet malfunctioned? This seems very unlikely to many
and is causing the world to be so unprepared if our technology suffers a serious
malfunction.
