Reading Plan

The Bombon Central School Reading Plan for SY 2018-2019 outlines a daily reading program for students from Grades 1 to 6. READING PLAN
S/Y 2018 - 2019

I. Introduction
Reading is the window to understand

II. Project Description


Every grade level will provide a portion in the classroom for a reading corner intended for a variety of story
books and other supplementary materials in English. All teachers in every grade level shall attend to the utilization
and safety of said materials. Books will be read daily by the pupils immediately after the flag ceremony before the
regular class instruction start. It will accumulate 20 minutes for Grades I to III and 15 minutes for Grades IV to VI in
the morning.

III. Objectives:
1. Developed children’s love for reading.
2. Enhanced pupils reading and comprehension skills.
3. Increased number of independent readers.

IV. Methodology:
1. Daily oral reading for Grades I, II and III, wherein one story book will be selected, and read aloud in class
by the teacher and will be followed by the pupils after reading every line. Then it will be read together by the pupils
with themselves without teachers’ assistance. However, the teacher will make necessary corrections if the pupils
commit mistakes in the pronunciation of words.
After reading, the teacher will write on the board the word of the day and let pupils look for the meaning in
the dictionary with the supervision of the teacher. Afterwards, the meaning will be written on the board and let pupils
make sentences using the word of the day. Then it shall be copied by the pupils in their notebook.

2. Silent Reading for Grades IV to VI will be administered every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. In which,
every pupil will have a reading buddy and will get one story book for them to read silently.
After the silent reading, the teacher will ask five (5) words of the day and write it on the board. Let the pupils
give its synonyms and antonyms. Then let the pupils make sentences using the words of the day. Afterwards pupils
copy the words with their meaning in their English notebook.

V. Monitoring and Evaluation:


The school head will monitor the conduct of the reading program to make sure if the activities are thoroughly
administered. Likewise, books will be check every month to ensure that it has the same number and in good
condition.
