Titanium Tetrachloride (Ticl) : Product Data Sheet

Titanium Tetrachloride (TiCl4) is a clear, acidic liquid used to produce catalysts, pigments, titanium metal, and in the surface treatment of metal and glass. It is also used as a precursor to make titanium dioxide, organo-titanates, and mixed oxides. TiCl4 reacts violently with water and moisture and must be handled in extremely dry conditions due to its hazardous nature. Safety guidelines and regulatory status information can be found in the safety data sheet.

• Pearlescent pigments
• Precursor of titanium metal and powders
• Metal/glass surface treatment
• Manufacturing of titanium dioxide and organo-titanates
• Manufacturing of mixed oxides (Electronics, Energy Storage)

Typical • TiO2 equivalent: ~ 41 % (weight)

Properties:

Caution: • Hazardous material

• TiCl4 reacts immediately and violently with water, aqueous solutions and any moisture,
giving off white and opaque acidic fumes.
