Classroom Goals
Write your classroom goals in the form of what students will be able to successfully do at the end
of the year or semester.
● The students will learn to work with their peers in a cooperative learning manner, which
will help the student develop effective team work skills.
● The students will learn to communicate with each other in a respectful, tolerant manner.
● The students will feel comfortable sharing their opinions, asking questions, making
connections, or relating experiences.
● The student will complete the work that is given to the best of their ability.
● The student will understand the expectations for them as a functioning student of the
classroom
● Recognize numbers up to 10
● Learn how to sort objects
● Learn concepts of more and less
● Develop basic addition and subtraction skills
● Recognize and create basic patterns
Classroom Rules
● We will listen and follow directions.
● Refer to the “rules chart” that is signed by classmates at the beginning of the year.
Classroom Procedures
Lateness
● If a student is late for school, he or she will be given a late pass from the office
and the student will give the late pass to the teacher.
● I will make a copy of the late pass and send a message to the daily report app
child’s guardian to confirm that the guardian is aware that the student was late.
● Recurring lateness will be dealt with by a phone call to a parent or guardian to
work out a way for the student to come to school on time.
Activities
● Arrival/free stations
● Morning meeting
● AM snack
● Small group instruction
● Art
● Writing
● Specials
● Lunch
● Science
● Reading
● Independent work
● Dismissal/free play
Assignments
● Teacher will have a sample assignment posted on the whiteboard and the teacher will also
demonstrate how to do the work.
● Teachers will give the students an opportunity to work on assignments at dismissal.
● Students will be given the opportunity to complete homework assignments for a sticker
on the sticker chart.
● It will be stressed in my class to both students and parents that all I expect of my students
is the best that they can do. If a student has trouble, there is no shame in not finishing up
the homework. However, when the student does not understand the homework, I will ask
the parents to sign the homework, to show me that the child did attempt the homework,
yet did have trouble. This ensures to me that the child did try the homework. When the
student is able to do the homework, the student is expected to hand the homework in for
full credit.
Turning in Assignments
● Students will be submitting homework in the “turn in trays” designated with their names
at the beginning or end of the day.
● Work that is not yet completed will be placed in the “unfinished bin.”
● All assignments will be assessed and returned to the students within one week.
● Teachers will place returning assignments in student folders, which will be hung up next
to their cubbies.
Late, Missing or Incomplete Assignments
● Students receive a late homework pass once a semester.
● If a student is late or is missing homework, it is their responsibility to talk to the teacher
about what is going on.
● If a student is chronically missing assignments, parents/guardians will be contacted in an
effort to correct the problem.
● Students can be given the opportunity to complete homework assignments during free
play at dismissal.
Classroom Setup
At the end of your plan, provide a design of your “dream” classroom. Be sure to label each area
of the room Use the Draw feature of Word to do so or draw your own and scan it into your
document.
