Nanotechnology: Karla B. Rivero

Nanotechnology involves manipulating matter at the nanoscale and brings together various fields like chemistry, biology, physics and engineering. It allows designing, producing and applying structures and devices with nanoscale components. Nanotechnology has advantages in fields like medicine, agriculture, chemistry and physics. However, it also raises moral and ethical concerns and its impacts on environment and human health are still being studied as some nanoparticles were found to have unknown harmful effects similar to asbestos.

Three dimensions on how nanotechnology works

1. First dimension
– involves tangible objects which include materials,
devices, and systems

2. Second dimension
– deals with the passive and static objects,

passive objects

bulk objects even if they have the same
composition
