It’s Always Day One
Here at Amazon we work hard, have fun, and make history. We’re so glad
to have you join the team where you will play an important role in
delighting customers. Starting on Day One, you’ll get all the necessary
training and information to perform your job and stay safe while doing it.
We say ‘it’s always Day One’ because there will always be something to
learn, new skills to develop, and new ways to grow as an Amazonian.
If you have any questions, ideas, or feedback, chat with any manager, site
Human Resources (HR), or call the Employee Resource Center (ERC). We’re
all here for you – and we’re always looking at new ways to give you a
great experience.
Safety First
Safety begins with each of us, and we all have a shared responsibility to create a safe work
environment. If you see something, say something. There’s nothing more important than
taking care of each other and improving safety together.
Follow all safety protocols
When you’re on site, you’ll follow our safety measures
at all times. This includes using pedestrian walkways in
the parking lot, reading and following safety signage
around the site, and using cleaning supplies and hand
sanitizer at your work stations to promote good
hygiene.
The health and safety of our associates, families, and
communities means the world to us, so it’s important
to continue safety efforts at home.
Focus on the 5 ’s
It’s important to keep our workplaces clean to avoid
hazards that cause slips, trips, and falls. We use the 5
S’s to help us keep clean.
Sort – remove any clutter and only keep items in an
area that are needed.
Set in Order – use 5S tape to label where items go
and return items where they belong.
Shine – wipe away dust, clean up spills, and sanitize
your station.
Standardize – help create and follow standard
methods for maintaining workplace organization.
Sustain – monitor and respectfully show each other
how to correct any unsafe behavior.
Safety Tip
Gloves should be worn when handling wooden pallets, and high-visibility
vests should be worn whenever you’re within the trailer yard or PIT lanes.
Safety First Hair Tie
Face
Covering
Follow the dress code Vest
It’s part of our safety culture! Our dress
code includes wearing personal protective
equipment (PPE) like vests, eyewear, face Badge
coverings (as mandated by your site or Secure
local authorities), and gloves. Jewelry
With lots of moving equipment, we want
to avoid loose clothing and apparel to
minimize interaction between us and the
equipment. This means tying back hair Enclosed
past the shoulders, wearing fitted Shoes
clothing, fully enclosed shoes, lanyards
with a break-away clasp, and jewelry that
doesn’t hang, and making sure your
badge is always visible and worn between
the waist and shoulder.
Know when to use the two
types of stretching
Dynamic stretching is a muscle stretch that is
meant to get the body warmed up, like when
you do arm circles or lunges.
Static stretching is when you stretch the muscle
to its full length and hold it, like when you do a
triceps or hamstring stretch. It is best to use this
type of stretch throughout the workday when
the body is already warmed up.
Safety Tip
If you’re unsure of the PPE requirements or can’t find the correct
PPE for a particular task, ask your manager for assistance.
Safety First
Visit our mobile Wellness Center or
AMCARE, where you can receive proactive
education and coaching on how to to keep
your body healthy and safe while working.
Our staff can also provide first aid care for
work-related injuries. Remember to stay at
home if you’re feeling sick before work
begins.
Report any suspicious activity to the
security team located at the main
entrance and fill out an incident report.
Stay safe in parking lots by obeying signs
and speed limits and staying alert when
walking or driving. Don’t text or talk on the
phone, and always use safe walking paths.
Safety Tip
Pause at the end of aisles, look both ways, and announce,
"CORNER" before proceeding.
