related to Europe and the European Union, which the European Society helps promote. European Society is a forum where
people can discuss, debate and share their opinions and at the same time learn a great deal about Europe.
More details can be found at the main GSIS Website & KUGANaver Cafe!
▶ Student Council
The KU GSIS Student Council is a student-led organization that seeks to represent the interests of the GSIS student body.
The mission of the Council is to enhance the graduate student experience through social and academic events that promote
student welfare, camaraderie and professional development. In addition, they serve as a liaison between the student body and
university administration, faculty, staff, and alumni. The SC represents all constituents equally, regardless of race, color,
national or ethnic origin, age, religion, disability, sex, sexual orientation, or veteran status. They pledge to work diligently to
promote the interests of the diverse GSIS student body, while upholding the standards of Liberty, Justice and Truth that
define Korea University.
I have always wanted to work in an international organization. To work in international organizations, both outstanding
academic and practical backgrounds are prerequisites. That’s why I decided to pursue my study at KU GSIS, which has not only
a great curriculum and faculty members but also various special programs.
All the programs and experiences that I gained from KU GSIS greatly helped me to start my career in a UN agency (UNICEF
Serbia). I believe my career path started from KU GSIS and I strongly recommend this University to whomever wants to work
in the development field or has the same goal I had– making the world a better place.
Lastly, I would like to introduce the programs I joined while I was in KU GSIS, hoping that this can be a little bit of a help to
those who share the same goal and dream as me!
K U GSIS’s professors and students are from all walks of life and from all over the world .The diversity was not only a
challenge but also wonderful opportunity. For the first time in my life, I met people who fundamentally had different
perspective of the world and learned from them. Our courses reflected this diversity as well.
A class on Middle Eastern politics is suddenly far more relevant when you have Palestinian and Egyptian classmates and the
visiting professor himself is a former ambassador to Israel. Giving a presentation on US interventions with a former US
Army officer in the audience, and next, discussing the rise of China with students from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the
mainland. This was a daily experience.
Studying, hanging out, and traveling with a wonderful group of classmates from every corner of Korea as well as the world
Daniel Philip Connolly truly opens your eyes, not only to new types of food and customs, but also to the blossoming tapestry of globalized life
(from Canada, MAin 2013 & PhD in 2016) that underlies this whole program.

Q. Why KU GSIS?
A. By the time I graduated from college, I had become interested in the development and cooperation of Latin America.
I decided to enter GSIS, and KU GSIS was the one which could satisfy both of my needs (International Development
and Cooperation & Regional Studies).
Additionally, KU GSIS has various domestic and foreign exchange programs, which helped me to cover all my
academic needs.
A. I would highly encourage getting involved in all activities available, including various societies and the student
council as Korea University has a stern reputation not only for the faculty and courses, but also for being an
active school.
Q. Why KU GSIS?
A. My undergraduate major was EU law. KU GSIS’ well-established Int’l Peace & Security curriculum and EU Centre was
important consideration to me when I chose KU GSIS. On top of that, the Scholarship for Int’l students helped me
a lot to focus on studying!
