College is essential in getting a good job

Everyone of us has a right to access to quality education. As the world changes, the job market changes
with it. Technology, education, and health are three of the most rapidly growing fields for a good
reason; they evolve so often that only the most accomplished individuals can do the work. Getting a
bachelor’s degree will help you learn the specific skills and habits needed to make a living in these areas.
But for others college seems to be just a luxury because of its fees and other miscellaneous. Money is a
sensitive topic, and one that’s on just about everyone’s mind regularly. And that’s especially true for
college students—getting through higher education means constantly thinking, worrying and stressing
about how to afford it.

RA No 10931 also known as "Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act", is an act promoting
universal access to quality tertiary education by providing for free tuition and other school fees in state
universities and colleges, local universities and colleges and state-run technical-vocational institutions,
establishing the tertiary education subsidy and student loan program, strengthening the unified student
financial assistance system for tertiary education, and appropriating fund therefor. It is hereby declared
that quality education is an inalienable right of all Filipinos and it is the policy of the State to protect and
promote the rights of all students to quality education at all levels. Therefore, the State shall take
appropriate steps to make such education accessible to all.

A population that is better educated has less unemployment, reduced dependence on public assistance
programs, and greater tax revenue. Education also plays a key role in the reduction of crime, improved
public health, and greater political and civic engagement. RA 10931 also provides other mechanisms
designed to hike participation rate in tertiary education from all socio-economic classes and provide all
Filipinos equal opportunities to quality education. Quality education empowers people and levels the
playing field; it is one of the best tools for poverty alleviation, social equity and inclusive growth.

A good education is one of the most important things an individual can pursue. There are many aspects
of life that a complete education will affect a person. Having a high education meaning a well-paying job,
better opportunities, and a better life. It also makes a person smarter than someone without one. There
are many ways in which education can benefit people. College degree delivers an advantage on finding a
good job since there are jobs that requires a college degree.

For aspiring teachers, the Republic Act No. 7836 or the Philippine Teachers Professionalization Act of
1994 strengthens the supervision and regulation of the practice of teaching in the Philippines. All
teachers are required to take and pass Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). Some of the
qualifications for the applicants should be a graduate of a school, college or university recognized by the
government and possesses the minimum educational qualifications, as follows: For teachers in
preschool, a bachelor's degree in early childhood education (BECED) or its equivalent; For teachers in
the elementary grades, a bachelor's degree in elementary education (BSEED) or its equivalent; For
teachers in the secondary grades, a bachelor's degree in education or its equivalent with a major and
minor, or a bachelor's degree in arts and sciences with at least ten (10) units in professional education;
and For teachers of vocational and two-year technical courses, a bachelor's degree in the field of
specialization or its equivalent, with at least eighteen (18) units in professional education.

As what Nelson Mandela quoted, “Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change
the world”. Having a degree on college can be a stepping stone for us to seek for a lot better job with
higher paying salaries. Education is an investment that can never go wrong. Obtaining college degree
will almost always improve your career opportunities. In today's competitive job market, it's becoming
more common for employers to require applicants to hold at least a bachelor's degree in order to
qualify for many jobs. That is why college is essential in getting a good job.
