ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
This section presents the industry analysis covering the following forces
directly affecting the proposed business: the trend in the industry, PESTEL
analysis, SWOT analysis, the consumers, the competitors, market forecast,
market share, market position and marketing strategy.
Trend in the Industry
In many ways, coffee trends are the same as any other industry — they
reflect the mindset and preferences of the culture they serve. As local and global
cultures shift, so do their industries. Big, global markets are undergoing even
more cultural transformation. Because coffee is a global market, it is influenced
by a vast number of cultural and economic factors, all of which contribute to the
emergence of new trends.
Coffee is an important part of food culture around the world, with a strong
presence in the convenience services industry. For a number of causes, the
coffee industry has changed dramatically in recent years. According to some
store owners, it's difficult to stay on top of new coffee trends for you to capitalize
on what's new and popular. The following are some general coffee industry
development we have seen, as well as some specific trends to watch out for in
2021.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 11
1. Dalgona Whipped Coffee
Almost everyone knew that there was a coffee trend that swept the
internet this since the lockdown happened. Whipped coffee (also known as
dalgona coffee) is a frothy South Korean beverage created by whipping instant
coffee, sugar, and water together to create a toffee-colored foam that is spooned
over milk. It is elegant enough for your business facebook page while still being
easy to make at home.
2. Nitro Cold Brew Coffee
Iced coffee sales are rising faster than hot coffee sales in stores across
the country, according to a recent survey, with cold brew leading the pack in
sales at major coffee chains. But, if cold brew is the popular option, nitro coffee is
the trendy cousin who is quickly gaining popularity. Nitro is a cold brew coffee
that's been infused with nitrogen gas and dispensed through a tap. The velvety
texture of nitro coffee, combined with its lower acidity, makes it easy to drink
black, even for cream lovers.
3. Coffee-based specialty drinks
People tried to recreate the taste and texture of a coffee shop in their own
homes, which led to the emergence of Dalgona coffee in 2020. For the year
2021, specialty coffee-based beverages will remain a rising trend in the coffee
industry. For an ever-evolving coffee-drinking audience, the industry is widening
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 12
its offering with an ever-increasing selection of coffee drinks and flavored
beverages.
4. Coffee Subscriptions
With customers brewing cups of coffee at home in the face of COVID-19,
coffee subscription boxes have really increased in popularity. As a result, more
consumers are constantly seeking diversity in order to broaden their options
available to them, as well as discover their personal favorites. One of the most
appealing features of a coffee subscription is its convenience; they are delivered
right to your door in letterbox-friendly packaging and can be set up on a monthly
basis.

Consumer Analysis
Market segmentation and targeting
Hourly Coffee will focus its marketing activities on reaching students,
people working at home, and adults working whose offices are located far from
coffee shops. Our market research shows that these are the customer groups
that are most likely to buy our coffee drinks. Our coffee options are affordable
through all income categories but is more accessible to middle to higher class
individuals.

Figure 2. Market segmentation and targeting
Demand Analysis
Coffee beverages are a demand in every place of the locality in Tigbauan
or Iloilo City. Every day, people buy different brands of coffee from their favorite
shops. We believe that our business will be on-demand since the population of
coffee drinkers are high in the area and only few competitors are seen.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 15
Competitor Analysis
Despite the fact that our market has a small number of coffee beverage
retailers, there is still a lot of space for new business. There is room for new
businesses that understand the importance of providing high-quality service with
fairly priced products. Some competitors in the locality include mostly small
coffee shops who just opened during the pandemic. Some of them are
CafeGado, Café Ohana, Miles Café and O’Maries located in Tigbauan, Iloilo.
Customers choose suppliers based on product availability, price, and
quality – while service is often the weakest aspect. While one supplier can sell
the product at a competitive price, they fail to deliver the quality of service that
the customer expects. While the next supplier will provide the appropriate quality
of service, their prices are too high. As a result, the consumer purchases the
majority of their supplies from a cash-and-carry wholesale store, where they
receive little service or assistance.
We are confident that by positioning ourselves in the market with in-
demand, high-quality products at reasonable prices and a consistent high level of
customer service, we can continue to see customers and their business grow.

growth of coffee consumption is still going up and the demand is higher than
ever. The Hourly Coffee is expected to cater 2,100 customers at the first month
and will grow approximately by 100 customers each month.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 17
Supply Forecast
Hourly Coffee’s suppliers have a massive amount of supply and
production of the raw materials needed in making the business’ products. With
that, the supply of raw materials to the inventory will be constant and will meet
the expected demands of the Hourly Coffee Jelly. The production and supply of
the Hourly Coffee Jelly may vary from time to time depending on the demands of
the consumers.
Market Share
With the presence of other coffee shop competitors in the area, we have
calculated an estimated market share of 18.2% for Hourly Coffee products sold in
the marketplace.
Market Position
Hourly Coffee will position itself to be known to have modern ambiance in
the coffee place and good quality at an affordable price. That’s the compelling
image we want to be perceived in the marketplace when people hear our
business.

Marketing Strategy
One of the ways by which coffee companies fight their competitors is by
thinking creative ways to promote their coffee products. Some coffee companies
have adapted the following creative marketing strategies to promote their coffee
brands:
1. Print and media advertisements to create brand awareness
2. Offering free cups of coffee on the opening day of the company’s coffee
shop to enable customers to taste their different coffee variants.
3. Offering free cups of coffee on special days to experience the ambiance
of the coffee shop
4. Online marketing through social media posts and online ads

Dealing with contracts is part of running a business. Some contracts can

number of business relationships involving some type of contractual commitment
or obligation.
• Hourly Coffee will be a purchaser of goods and services- as a borrower
of money, in rental agreements and franchisee agreements.
• Hourly Coffee will be a supplier of goods and services- retailers,
wholesaler, or independent distributor.
• Hourly Coffee will have a partnering agreement with other businesses
– partnerships and joint ventures.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 22
For a contract to be legally binding, it must contain four essential
elements:
• an offer
• an acceptance
• intention to create legal relationship
• consideration (usually money)
However, it may still be considered invalid if it entices someone to commit
a crime, entered into by someone that lacks capacity, such as minor or bankrupt,
or was agreed through misleading or deceptive conduct, duress, unconscionable
conduct or undue influence.

Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 25
ORGANIZATIONAL PLAN
I. Form of Business Organization
There are several legal forms of organizing and operating a business.
Thus the group decided to structure the business as a corporation that acts as a
unique and separate entity from its shareholders. The business is structured as a
corporation, owned equally by Alyssa Zyrene Bilbao, Kristianne Paul Camiña,
Thomas Del Rosario, Maybelline Kate Gardose, Johnah Atashia Portillo, Gabriel
Ray Puig, and Princess Ivy Undag. We have a share capital that we divided to
buy equipment, materials, and ingredients for the production. We plan to equally
divide the management among us. And also the profit that we will earn will be
divided among us.
• Owners are not liable for company debts: In general, a corporation's
lenders are not liable for its debts. Rather than that, lenders take a
gamble on their equity.
• Tax exemptions: Corporations can subtract certain costs associated with
employee benefits, such as life care premiums, salaries, income, flights,
and equipment.
• Quick capital through stocks: Shareholders can sell their corporation's
stock to raise additional funds for the company.
• Annual record-keeping requirements: Even for corporations, the corporate
business process necessitates a significant amount of documentation.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 26
II. Liability of the Owner or Owners
Corporation form of business with separate legal entity, run by
stockholders having limited liability. Limited liability in general means that the
liability of a business owner is limited to the amount that the owner has invested
in the company. A corporation is good for almost any business, with its complex
structure protecting its shareholders. As such, it offers a high level of protection
to its owners’ personal assets. Hourly Coffee owners do not expose the personal
assets in the event that the company needs to be liquidated or if it cannot meet
its financial obligations with business assets. Many small businesses incorporate
to shield their personal assets from any obligations or liabilities arising from the
businesses’ activities. Corporations, as distinctly separate legal entities with a
long legal history in the United States, operate as “persons” in the eyes of the
law. Therefore, they can own assets and incur liabilities completely independent
of their owners. These liabilities can range from debt related obligations to
contractual obligations to liabilities related to personnel.

to accept to work in a position. As part of the job candidate screening process,
Hourly Coffee evaluators may ask individuals to provide their salary requirements
in their application for employment. This value, or range of values, should
represent the compensation the applicant is willing to accept if they were to fill
the open position.
Providing this information on a job application has two distinct
disadvantages:
• If the range of values is too low, it may signal the job applicant is not
qualified for the position, and exclude them from consideration. If the
range of values is too high, it may signal the job applicant is over-qualified,
and exclude them from consideration.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 31
• Supplying a range of acceptable salaries provides the employer with an
advantage during salary negotiations, since they know the minimum salary
the applicant is willing to accept.
For the reasons stated above, job candidates are encouraged to simply
answer "negotiable" when an application asks for their salary requirements.
Hourly Coffee Company will ask applicants to provide this information after an
initial interview.
Furthermore, Hourly Coffee Company will provide employee benefits
package. These benefits usually include services and policies that provide for the
employee’s physical and mental health, their work/life balance and their personal
goals. The Hourly Coffee Company prioritize offering quality benefits because
they contribute to employee satisfaction, retention and overall productivity. Some
of these are health insurance such as PhilHealth, distribution to Social Security
System (SSS), and Pag-Ibig.
Employee benefits are an important part of any employment contract. The
Hourly Coffee Company value their employee’s satisfaction, and we are willing to
negotiate the terms of their employee benefits.

Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 41
• Manage weight: Gelatin strengthens the body at the cellular level, speeds

restaurants and cafés plans, but now, we at Hourly Coffee produce this kind of
beverage for a reasonable price. Our coffee jelly bottles can last to 3-5 days
when placed in the refrigerator and it is advised to consume it immediately after

Place
Placement is important because it directly relates to accessibility for
consumers. Hourly Coffee doesn't just set up another branch in another area to
acquire benefit but to use its assets and get to its objective market completely.
We at Hourly Coffee have units located in Calinog, Pototan, Semirara, Alimodian,
Leon, Tapaz, Capiz and Tigbauan which is our main branch. We chose the
Tigbauan area since it comprises a vast number of working population and
students. There are only a few competitors in the area.
Price
The Hourly Coffee Company plans to accomplish low prices compared to
our rivals because the consumers can gain benefits at a lower price. Other coffee
shops' prices range from Php90-150.00, but customers can avail of our coffee
products at a much lower price which is Php65.00 per 350mL bottle.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 42
We will offer free delivery to bulk orders within the Tigbauan area and we will add
delivery fees for orders outside Tigbauan Area.
We at Hourly Coffee plans to release a complimentary freebie called
loyalty cards to gain more loyal customers. As we have seen, a loyalty card
program is not only a great way to keep repeat customers, it's also a very
effective way of acquiring new customers. The promise of free rewards and
exclusive deals proves to be irresistible, especially for something a customer was
going to purchase anyway.
Promotion
In order for our business to grow, our business needs customers just like any
other organization. To get customers, we need to promote our business. In the
good old days, this was a matter of deciding between a flyer, a brochure, a
postcard, or an ad in the local newspaper. But in today's digital world, the
possibilities are endless. In Hourly Coffee, we will adopt the following promotion
strategies to expand our business:
• create a website
• use social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram
• print flyers around university campuses
• partner with community influencers that supports local brands
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 43
People
Hourly Coffee is a self-managed business by the respective experienced
owners. We aim to provide fresh and tasty coffee beverages that will satisfy the
needs of our customers. We at Hourly Coffee put importance on assigning quality
people with the necessary skills that are fit on the job description. Assigning
responsibilities for project team members boosts efficiency. Having a clear
understanding of project roles allows our company to develop a timeline.
Hourly Coffee will have to designate people on the following aspects:
marketing activities, customer contact, operational activities, managerial
positions, and training and skills. By hiring the right people, who respect
customers and co-workers alike, we cultivate the best customer service
experience in the marketplace.
Packaging
For packaging, we at Hourly Coffee decided to use sturdy plastic bottles
because it's easier to take and carry where ever you want to go like traveling or
out somewhere. Unlike glass containers, plastic bottles are rugged and resilient;
they don't shatter into sharp pieces when dropped, making products and
packaging safe to handle. The same resilience makes plastic bottles unlikely to
leak or burst, protecting the contents and exterior shipping cartons. But for a fact,
we know that plastic is terrible for the environment that's why we are proposing to
charge less if the consumer decided to reuse the bottle to buy again from us.
Hourly Coffee Company - Business Plan 44

Financial Statement of Analysis
Hourly Coffee's major principles are reasonable for a start-up and three
years of business operations (2022-2024). The company estimates that each
flavor should generate at least 490 bottles per week for 2,100 bottles each
month. The net income produced by the organization is expected to be P 1, 258,
040 for the first year, P 1, 308, 040 for the second year, and P 1, 308, 040 for the
third year, as seen in the forecast income statement. This assumes Hourly
Coffee would be more efficient in its core operations, allowing it to pay operating
expenses and other expenses while still generating net profits for the company.
The company's gross profit margin is expected to be 24.07 percent in
2022, 23.60 percent in 2023, and 22.06 percent in 2024. This means that the
company would be able to cover operating expenses and interest. Finally, the
company's net profit margin is expected to be 69. 89 percent in 2022, 69. 25
percent in 2023, and 70. 47 percent in 2024. We assume that the enterprise will
be sustainable for the first three years of operations. The numbers provided the
only estimate that can change over time.
The data provided in the financial analysis are just estimates which
change steadily over time. This review of the financial statements is used to
visualize and forecast the business's results in order to assist the firm in
preparing for potential financial challenges and problems in the future.
