PC Sensor: Warning

The document provides guidelines for using and maintaining a PC sensor, which is a precision instrument for detecting yarn during winding. It warns that the sensor is fragile and outlines proper handling procedures. Specific yarns that could damage the sensor are identified. Procedures are given for adjusting settings, cleaning, replacing parts, and removing/attaching the sensor. The sensor connection and air pipe must be covered if winding without the sensor attached.

Chapter

4Ia PC Sensor
Introduction
● Warning
The PC sensor is a precision instrument. Failure to follow the guidelines below could result in malfunction or
failure.
- Do not disassemble.
- Do not touch the detection shaft.
- Handle with care because the PC sensor is extremely fragile and very vulnerable to strong impact.

● Yarn incompatible with PC sensor

If the following yarn is used for winding, it may cause damage or faulty detection.
We recommend following the procedure described later to remove the sensor and to perform the winding
operation in the tension manager section.

- Dirty yarn contaminated with such contaminants as grease that could significantly smear the detection 1

shaft.
- Yarn that could wear down the ceramic guide and the detection shaft that make up the yarn path.

Sec 1 Adjustment Standard

1-1 VOS Settings
The VOS settings are listed below. Change the setting conditions when necessary.
PC Sensor Select "Without" or "With"
Tension Control System Select from: Tension Mgr / Tension Fdbk / Fix Appld Tnsn

* If the PC sensor is turned OFF, the tension feedback cannot be selected.

Sec 2 Maintenance
2-1 Cleaning
If any cotton fly or waste is stuck to the detection shaft or yarn guide, remove it gently using a cloth or cotton
swab moistened with water, or water diluted with mild detergent.

- Do not apply too much pressure on the detection shaft when cleaning.
- Cleaning methods which place any load on the detection shaft, such as wiping with a
cloth or blowing with an air blast from close range, can damage the PC sensor.
- Do not use alcohol based agents (thinner, benzine, etc.).

2-2 Damage & Failure

If part of the PC sensor is damaged or has failed, replace the entire PC sensor unit.

Removing & Attaching the PC Sensor

1. Remove the PC tensor from the winding unit while the PC sensor is attached.
2. After removing the (M5) bolt shown above and the air hose, remove the PC sensor from the PC
tensor.
* To attach the PC sensor, perform the removal procedure in reverse order.

Attaching and removing the PC sensor while PC tensor is attached to the winding unit may
cause the air hose insertion hole to break.

When Using the Winding Unit without the PC Sensor Attached
