The main tower is a 3x free standing tower with an overall height of 40.00 ft above the ground line.
The base of the tower is set at an elevation of 0.00 ft above the ground line.
The face width of the tower is 3.00 ft at the top and 3.00 ft at the base.
This tower is designed using the TIA-222-G standard.
The following design criteria apply:
ASCE 7-10 Wind Data is used.
Basic wind speed of 115 mph.
Risk Category III and IV.
Exposure Category C.
Topographic Category 3.
Crest Height 1100.00 ft.
Deflections calculated using a wind speed of 60 mph.
Weld together tower sections have flange connections..
Connections use galvanized A325 bolts, nuts and locking devices. Installation per TIA/EIA-222 and AISC
Specifications..
Tower members are ''hot dipped'' galvanized in accordance with ASTM A123 and ASTM A153 Standards..
Welds are fabricated with ER-70S-6 electrodes..
A non-linear (P-delta) analysis was used.
Pressures are calculated at each section.
Stress ratio used in tower member design is 1.
Local bending stresses due to climbing loads, feed line supports, and appurtenance mounts are not considered.

6 Warnings
• The anchor design methods in PROFIS Anchor require rigid anchor plates per current regulations (ETAG 001/Annex C, EOTA TR029, etc.).
This means load re-distribution on the anchors due to elastic deformations of the anchor plate are not considered - the anchor plate is
assumed to be sufficiently stiff, in order not to be deformed when subjected to the design loading. PROFIS Anchor calculates the minimum
required anchor plate thickness with FEM to limit the stress of the anchor plate based on the assumptions explained above. The proof if the
rigid base plate assumption is valid is not carried out by PROFIS Anchor. Input data and results must be checked for agreement with the
existing conditions and for plausibility!
• Condition A applies when supplementary reinforcement is used. The Φ factor is increased for non-steel Design Strengths except Pullout
Strength and Pryout strength. Condition B applies when supplementary reinforcement is not used and for Pullout Strength and Pryout
Strength. Refer to your local standard.
• Checking the transfer of loads into the base material and the shear resistance are required in accordance with ACI 318 or the relevant
standard!
• An anchor design approach for structures assigned to Seismic Design Category C, D, E or F is given in ACI 318-14, Chapter 17, Section
17.2.3.4.3 (a) that requires the governing design strength of an anchor or group of anchors be limited by ductile steel failure. If this is NOT
the case, the connection design (tension) shall satisfy the provisions of Section 17.2.3.4.3 (b), Section 17.2.3.4.3 (c), or Section 17.2.3.4.3
(d). The connection design (shear) shall satisfy the provisions of Section 17.2.3.5.3 (a), Section 17.2.3.5.3 (b), or Section 17.2.3.5.3 (c).
• Section 17.2.3.4.3 (b) / Section 17.2.3.5.3 (a) require the attachment the anchors are connecting to the structure be designed to undergo
ductile yielding at a load level corresponding to anchor forces no greater than the controlling design strength. Section 17.2.3.4.3 (c) / Section
17.2.3.5.3 (b) waive the ductility requirements and require the anchors to be designed for the maximum tension / shear that can be
transmitted to the anchors by a non-yielding attachment. Section 17.2.3.4.3 (d) / Section 17.2.3.5.3 (c) waive the ductility requirements and
require the design strength of the anchors to equal or exceed the maximum tension / shear obtained from design load combinations that
include E, with E increased by w0.
• The design of Anchor Reinforcement is beyond the scope of PROFIS Anchor. Refer to ACI 318-14, Section 17.5.2.9 for information about
Anchor Reinforcement.
• Anchor Reinforcement has been selected as a design option, calculations should be compared with PROFIS Anchor calculations.
Input data and results must be checked for agreement with the existing conditions and for plausibility!

Gain, Mid Band For a given frequency band, gain is primarily a function of antenna size. The
gain of Andrew antennas is determined by either gain by comparison or by
computer integration of the measured antenna patterns.
Operating Frequency Band Bands correspond with CCIR recommendations or common allocations used
throughout the world. Other ranges can be accommodated on special order.
Packing Andrew standard packing is suitable for export. Antennas are shipped as
standard in totally recyclable cardboard or wire-bound crates (dependent on
product). For your convenience, Andrew offers heavy duty export packing
options.
Radiation Pattern Envelope Reference (RPE) Radiation patterns define an antenna’s ability to discriminate against
unwanted signals. Under still dry conditions, production antennas will not
have any peak exceeding the current RPE by more than 3dB, maintaining an
angular accuracy of +/-1° throughout
Return Loss The figure that indicates the proportion of radio waves incident upon the
antenna that are rejected as a ratio of those that are accepted.
Side Force (FS) Maximum side force exerted on the mounting pipe as a result of wind from
the most critical direction for this parameter. The individual maximums
specified may not occur simultaneously. All forces are referenced to the
mounting pipe.
Twisting Moment (MT) Maximum forces exerted on a supporting structure as a result of wind from
the most critical direction for this parameter. The individual maximums
specified may not occur simultaneously. All forces are referenced to the
mounting pipe.
VSWR Maximum; is the guaranteed Peak Voltage-Standing-Wave-Ratio within the
operating band.
Wind Velocity Operational The wind speed where the antenna deflection is equal to or less than 0.1
degrees. In the case of ValuLine antennas, it is defined as a maximum
deflection of 0.3 x the 3 dB beam width of the antenna.
Wind Velocity Survival Rating The maximum wind speed the antenna, including mounts and radomes,
where applicable, will withstand without permanent deformation.
Realignment may be required. This wind speed is applicable to antenna with
the specified amount of radial ice.

AECOM Technical Services, Inc. (AECOM) is pleased to provide this report presenting our
geotechnical evaluation for the proposed Control Shelter and Communications Tower at 6778
Rainbow Peaks Road in Fallbrook, California. This report presents the findings from a geotechnical
investigation completed by AECOM at the project and discusses geotechnical engineering design and
construction considerations to support proposed site improvements.
PROJECT UNDERSTANDING
The project site is located southwest of the intersection of Rainbow Peaks Road and Rainbow
Heights Road within a gated facility owned by the San Diego County Sheriffs Department in
Fallbrook, California. A new control shelter is proposed to replace the existing equipment building
that is approximately 8 feet wide by 20 feet long. Replacement of the existing communications tower
and associated foundation, just west of the existing equipment building, is also planned. The existing
tower foundation slab is a 7 foot concrete square. The southern end of site slopes down
approximately 60 feet at an inclination of approximately 2H:1V (Horizontal to Vertical) to Rainbow
Peaks Road. Figure 1 presents a Vicinity Map of the project site.
The purpose of our investigation is to evaluate the subsurface conditions at the project site and
provide geotechnical design recommendations with respect to the planned improvements. Since the
soils encountered during the subsurface investigation were homogenous and easily characterized, a
laboratory testing program was not warranted. The scope of services included:
SUBSURFACE INVESTIGATION
Subsurface exploration consisted of logging and obtaining soil samples from three hand auger
borings (designated HA-1 through HA-3) that were advanced to depths ranging from 2.5 to 4.3 feet
below ground surface (bgs). An AECOM geotechnical engineer advanced and logged the borings,
and retained grab samples of the representative materials. Figure 2 shows the locations of the
subsurface explorations. Attachment A provides logs of the test borings.
SUBSURFACE CONDITIONS
Based on our subsurface explorations, the site is underlain by undocumented fill comprised of silty
sand with gravel and residual soils (derived from decomposed granite) to a depth of about 3.5 feet
over completely weathered granite rock . Groundwater was not encountered in the explorations and is
expected to be deeper than the proposed improvement foundations.
In our opinion, the proposed development is geotechnically feasible. The following sections present
our recommendations for the design of the proposed improvements and provide seismic design
coefficients in accordance with 2016 California Building Code (CBC).
We expect the proposed improvements will be supported on shallow foundations and concrete slabs-
on-grade. Foundations and slabs should be supported on engineered fill.
The project area will likely be subject to moderate to severe ground shaking in response to a local or
more distant large-magnitude earthquakes occurring during the expected life of the proposed
facilities. The table below presents the seismic design coefficients based on 2016 CBC. These
parameters are developed in the code, based on Risk-Targeted Maximum Considered Earthquake
(MCER) ground motion response accelerations.

Earthwork
Weeds, grass, trees, shrubs and construction debris within areas of proposed improvements should
be cleared and properly disposed of off-site. Roots and other vegetative matter should be removed
and disposed either offsite or stockpiled for reuse in landscape areas. Existing infrastructure should
be properly demolished and disposed at an appropriate facility offsite.
Removal of existing undocumented fill and residual soil is required to expose suitable material on
which to place fill. Removals should generally extend into competent weathered rock as observed
and approved by a Geotechnical Engineer. Removal depths should generally be four feet or less,
except in local areas. A Geotechnical Engineer should make the final determination of actual removal
depths in the field during earthwork. There may be local areas of removal to other firm, native
materials as approved by the Geotechnical Engineer.
Following the clearing of weeds, grass and debris, and upon completion of removals, the surface
within areas to receive fill should be scarified, moisture conditioned as necessary, and compacted
prior to fill placement. Areas temporarily vacated during earthwork should be similarly scarified,
moisture conditioned and reworked to the satisfaction of a Geotechnical Engineer before placing
additional fill to avoid drying out and lamination along the fill interface.
Except for surficial organic materials, the onsite surficial deposits including the properly processed
residual soil and weathered rock are suitable for use as engineered fill. Rock fragments and clasts
that are greater than six inches in maximum dimension should be screened. Import materials are not
expected to be needed.
Fill soils should be placed in loose horizontal lifts that do not exceed 8 inches. Each layer should be
spread evenly and thoroughly mixed during spreading to obtain a uniform moisture content and soil
composition in each layer. After each layer has been mixed and spread, it should be compacted to a
relative compaction indicated by tests to be not less than 90 percent. Relative compaction is defined as
the ratio (expressed in percent) of the in-place dry unit weight of the compacted fill divided by the
maximum dry unit weight evaluated in accordance with ASTM D1557. Fill materials should be
compacted at a moisture content of 3% above the optimum moisture content determined in accordance
with the above test method.

Shallow Foundations
The foundations may be supported on engineered fill or weathered rock. Due to the size of the
foundations and the proximity to the existing slope, we recommend that the proposed new structures
be supported on mat foundations. Mat foundations may be designed using allowable bearing
pressure of 1,500 pounds per square foot (psf) and should be embedded a minimum of 8 inches
below adjacent grade. The allowable bearing pressure assumes the foundation is located at least 3
feet from the edge of slope. Mat Foundations should be at least 8 inches thick and should be
designed using a modulus of subgrade reaction of 75 pounds per cubic inch (pci). The Structural
Engineer should design the thickness and reinforcement of concrete slabs-on-grade to accommodate
concentrated loads and heavy distributed loads. We understand the mat foundation supporting the
tower may be designed as a turned-down slab on the side closer to the water tank. Allowable bearing
pressures may be increased by one third for short term wind or seismic loads.
Due to foundation proximity to the existing slope, a reduced passive resistance of 100 psf/ft is
recommended for the turned-down concrete slab supporting the building; passive resistance should
be ignored for the tower pad foundation. An allowable friction coefficient of 0.35 may be used with
the dead load to compute the frictional resistance of foundations.
A maximum total settlement of ½-inch and a differential settlement of ¼-inch have been estimated for
uniformly loaded foundations designed for the allowable vertical foundation pressures and other
recommendations provided in this report. This settlement is the result of elastic compression of the
underlying soil. The majority of the settlement due to loading should occur during construction.
Settlement estimates assume that appropriate reinforcement is provided to distribute concentrated
loads across the foundation.
Earthwork and placement of engineered fill should be performed under the observation and testing
services of a geotechnical professional supervised by a California-registered Geotechnical Engineer.
Tests should be taken to determine the in-place moisture and relative compaction of engineered fill.
All footing and slab subgrade soils should be observed by a geotechnical or geologic professional
prior to placement of steel and concrete to observe that the subgrade is satisfactory. Excavations
should be free of soft fill or loose and disturbed soils. We recommend that foundation excavations be
cleaned of loose material and that the excavations be observed by a qualified engineer or geologist
before placing steel or concrete to verify soil conditions exposed at the bottoms of the excavations. A
California-registered Geotechnical Engineer should prepare a final report of earthwork testing and
observation.
The conclusions and recommendations in the report are based on the information provided to us,
results of our limited field explorations, engineering analyses, and professional judgment. AECOM
