Fortune on Wheels!
Read the paragraph below, then carefully study on what your decisions would be if you were
in the situation.
Your good deed of returning a case of jewelries and diamonds you accidentally found
on a public transport was rewarded by a rich businessman. He gave you a huge amount of
money that will surely change your life. Your next move is to use the money wisely, and to
make sure that every move you make leads to promote common good. In making such
decision, what are your considerations? Why?
List down some of your expenditures. Is it worth your money? Why? At this time
of pandemic, what should be your priorities? Do you find it hard to come up with a
decision? Why? Why not?

 Food, transportation, internet, load, school tasks, and personal stuff such as skin
care, mask, alcohol and vitamins. are some of my daily expenses? Yes, since it
teaches me how to budget my allowance without relying on my parents, and it also
makes us think about what we should prioritize in our spending. During this
epidemic, I need to put my health first, so I'm stocking up on masks, booze, and
vitamins. No, because making this decision is not difficult because it will aid me in
protecting myself from the infection.

Processing Questions:

1. How did you come up with such decisions?

2. Who influenced your decision -making skills?
3. Are you happy with your decisions? Why?

 1. I consider my lifestyle as well as the situation in which I find myself. In the face of
a pandemic, we must think rationally about what we should prioritize.
 2. We've been conducting distant learning and spending a lot of time at our
individual houses since I started. My family has the most influence on my decision-
making abilities. They are the ones with whom I have always communicated on a
daily basis.
 3. Yes, because my current decisions have a greater impact on what I will do in the
future. Making excellent, rational judgments now will save me money in the future.

You Decide!
Read the following statements. Carefully decide on the best thing to do when faced with
these situations. Then, write your insights on a clean sheet of paper.

• Two of your friends are having conflict and often disturb your peace of mind. How
would you handle this situation?
 My friends are really important in my life. When they get into minor disputes or
have misunderstandings, it has a significant impact on me. If any of my pals
were to become embroiled in a disagreement with one another, I would not
hesitate to intervene. A "cool-down session" could be one of the possible
answers. In this section, I will select a date for when they will have already
cooled down from their own schedule. I will make certain that I listen to both
sides in order to be able to justify the thoughts that I will express to them. If, at
the end of the day, none of them agrees on how to resolve their
disagreement, I will just give them some time to reflect on it.

• Describe a time you made an unpopular decision. How did you handle the feedback?
How would you have handled the situation differently?
 I recall a time when my classmates were pressuring me to purchase a
certain high-priced device they had heard about. I
thought the device was fantastic, so I was persuaded to

3
get it. I went over my money and discovered that if I purchase that item, I
will lose everything I have saved. Nonetheless, I purchased it. At first, I
was excited about it and couldn't stop using it. However, after a few
weeks, we were presented with a project that necessitated a monetary
contribution. I had no money left in my savings account, so I turned to my
parents for assistance. As I had anticipated, I was reprimanded because I
had already received my stipend for the entire month. In such scenario, I
felt really ashamed in front of them and wanted to hide away. Because I
have no other choice, I am subjected to their constant rants and
recommendations. If I had the opportunity to go back in time and purchase
that gadget, I would consider twice, maybe even three times, before
making the purchase. I'll be able to weigh the advantages and
disadvantages of purchasing it in this manner.

• Do you usually make better decisions alone or with a group? Why? When do you ask
for help?
 When making a highly important decision, especially one that will have a
significant impact on my life, I seek the advice of others, such as my family
and trusted friends, to help me make the right choice. My ability to weigh
and sort things out clearly is enhanced as a result of soliciting their
viewpoints. Yes, the majority of the time, I receive a variety of proposals
and viewpoints. However, these viewpoints will still be sifted in order to
arrive at the best appropriate judgment that I can make.

• In your experience, when you’re working on a group project, do you make the most
decisions or do you prefer to step back and follow someone else’s guidelines?
 When working in a group, I always want to be the one in charge. I have
faith in my own abilities and capabilities. I believe in myself. But, of course,
being a leader does not imply that one is constantly in command. A good
leader is also a good follower, and vice versa. As a result, when I am
selected as the group's leader, I make certain that I maintain a healthy
work-life balance. Being a good leader is important, but so is being a good
follower.

• In areas under General Community Quarantine, many have opened business

establishments amidst the rising cases of Covid-19. However, health protocols are
being implemented to ensure public safety so that usual business transactions
continue. Our economy is badly affected by this worldwide health crisis but life moves
on, citizens are caught in between working for a living or staying at home for safety
health reasons. What is your stand on this?
 Given the fact that the vast majority of the population in our country has
already been properly immunized, I believe that establishments should be
open by now. Our economy has already suffered billion-dollar losses as a
result of the pandemic. Workers earning the bare minimum wage are also
disproportionately affected by this policy. People who are less fortunate
are depressed and anxious as a result of not being able
to work as a result of the epidemic, as I can see when I

watch the news. In reality, several of them chose to take their own lives
because they were suffering from severe depression. According to what I
can tell you, the goal is simply to reopen the economy and business
institutions so that employees can return to their places of employment
while still following safety standards. In addition, the government must
provide assistance to these individuals, particularly in the medical field.

Processing Questions:
1. How did you find the activity? What were your thoughts and feelings while
answering?

 This activity was both intriguing and engaging for me. It assisted me in
reawakening the concepts that had been sleeping in my head. Students like me
will benefit from this type of activity since it will encourage us to be more creative
and spontaneous in our writing.
2. In making a decision, what are the things that you need to consider?

 When making decisions, I must evaluate what it is that I truly desire. The next step
is to seek guidance from those in whom I have faith. The third step is to call into
question my motivations for making a particular decision. Finally, I need to think
about the advantages and disadvantages of the conclusion of my decision.
3. Who are the people that mostly influence your decisions? Why?

 My family and friends are the people that have the greatest influence on my
decisions. They are the individuals who have already been tried and tested in
turbulent conditions. In my case, it will be possible to determine who my true
friends are at times of extreme difficulty. My family, on the other hand, will be my
lifeline for the rest of my life, particularly at my worst moments.
4. Does this pandemic situation somehow affected your decision-making? How?

 The answer is a resounding YES. A lot of things became clear to me as a result of

this pandemic. One of these is that when it comes to spending time with my family,
I always make sure that I get the most out of it as much as possible. We take our
family gatherings for granted before the pandemic, and I was no exception. That
was my previous frame of mind since I am confident that our family members have
healthy bodies and will not be infected by a virus. However, I was mistaken
because when the epidemic hit, even the healthiest person I knew became ill as a
result. In light of these events, I have come to the realization that I will put my
whole heart and soul into whatever activities or events are likely to make my family
happy in the near future.

Keep in Mind

Suggested Time Allotment: 30 minutes

Decisiveness is displayed by firmness and decision. It means that you have the
ability to decide, and from the strength of a decision you then have the needed skills to carry
out that decision and act on it.

Here are some of the practices of a decisive person:

ü Collect relevant information. Get as much information as possible. It is about
exploring and discovering all the available options. Read, talk to seniors and trusted
persons, and visit credible websites to get valid and reliable information. The first step
will give you a good head start and will guide you through arriving at a less risky but
rather sound decision.
ü Write down pros and cons. Make columns and list down the doable including its
positive and negative effects.
ü Imagine yourself sooner or later dealing on with the outcome of your decisions.
Think about what you’re doing and how you’re feeling. Does it make you happy and
fulfilled? Or does it make you regretful and feeling a little empty? Of course, you must
go with the positive outcome.
ü Weigh in past decisions. Maybe you have read or heard about the saying that
“those who don’t understand history are doomed to repeat it.” This is the exact
reason why you should reflect and find out the things that you should have
considered and should not have considered. Through pondering on past decisions,
you will be able to draw out effects that turned out well and those that did not turn out
very well.
ü Be Ready and Brace Yourself. It’s good to be always prepped up with the choices
you’ll be faced with in your life; and get ready to bout with upcoming challenges.
Foresight is one skill that’s useful and experiences you had in the past will also gear
you up.

Remember: Making good choices begins with taking charge of the decision-making
process. There’s never a short-cut to achieving finer things in life.

You Can Do It

Suggested Time Allotment: 30 minutes

Help Me Decide
In making a career choice, it is important to come up with a sound desicion.
How do you do it? Who are the significant others who can help you? Try to identify
the particular person/s or institution/s as being asked below. Do this on a sheet of
paper.

The family consists of three people in the picture.

Mother, father, and the only girl. Family brings you
back to your values and helps you make good
decisions. The father is the protector, the provider,
and the disciplinarian. The mother takes care of
the husband, children, home, and household
chores. They provide for the needs of their
children. They make sure that their kids are in a
good condition and having a good life in the future.

Your peers are people like you in age or grade
level. Whether you are good friends or not, peers
influence or socialize you a great deal. You and
your peers will have your own tastes, ideas, and
ways of dressing and talking, as well as favorite
music, food, and sports. Peer pressure and
influence can be positive or negative, which I why
we need to choose the right peers.

Suggested Time Allotment: 10 minutes

Recall an instance in your life when you needed a confidant. Who was that person?
Write him/her a nice and creatively done Thank You letter and let the person know how you
turned out to be a better person now. Send it via regular mail, email or post in social media.
Let him/her sign or acknowledge the letter and compile it together with your other activities.

Dear my older sister

I hope you are keeping good.....

I am writing to thank you for what you did once for me. You helped me by being my
confidant at that time. I was feeling quiet alone with the crime I had committed. I had
stolen your watch and you knew it, but you were kind enough to not let anyone know
that. You made me understand what I had done. You helped me sort myself out. And
now due to that, I have turned out a very good, mature person.

Thank you so much.

Regards,
Your little babsy
