Getting to Know
You
This pack contains four activities to help you apply what you have learned in the
‘Getting to Know You’ module.
In Activity 1 you will look at how to respond to different work situations to build
relationships.
In Activity 2 you will apply your understanding of boundaries, communication, and trust.
In Activity 3 you will use your knowledge of the right place, right time, right way
approach.
In Activity 4 you will improve your teamwork skills.
You are speaking to a colleague, who I will consider their feedback since it is

The above situations are all examples that may cause an emotional response when you
encounter them in the workplace. You may think it’s rude that your manager tells you to
do their work and then walk away without another word of explanation. This may make
you angry. If your responses show that you are angry or frustrated, remember that you
may have to adjust your behaviour and attitude to remain professional.
How should you respond? Look at the options in the table and decide if they are:
A. Not appropriate for a work environment
B. Safe in any workplace
Mark the responses with the correct letter.
The answers above are suggested answers. You might find that your workplace is more
relaxed or strict about what is considered acceptable. Make sure you pay attention to
how people interact and what they talk about in your workplace and think about your
responses, always.
