D: So Hello, this is the IELTS speaking test.

My name is Duy and I will be your examiner

today. So, what's your name?

N: Hi, my name is Huỳnh Phạm Yến Nhi, but for short you can just only, you can just call
me Nhi

D: So, welcome Nhi to the exam. Now, so in the first part I will ask you some questions
about yourself. So, let's talk about your hometown first, ok. Now, tell me something about
your hometown.

N: Well, you know, I was born and , I was born and grew up in Tay Ninh, which is 2 hours
far away from Ho Chi Minh city. To be more specific, I live in a small like a small like a smalll
town in Tay Ninh, which is  called Hoa Thanh. To me,  Hoa Thanh is a place like not really
lively like Saigon but is really peaceful and tranquility. And I really love there because the of
the vibe. And everytime I want to everytime I'm like tired from being in Ho Chi Minh city for
so long, I'd love to go back to my hometown and you know just unwind myself.

D: yeah, ok. So is it a good place for children to be ?

N: yeah it is. Ideally, it is a perfect place for children because they have more space so they
can play around, but you know in HCM city, sometimes the house is too small don't have
the playground, the yard, they cannot really play in that yard so ideally  the children, so
ideally my hometown is a good place to to grow up with children

D: I see, now let's move on to talk about concentration, so what helps you to concentrate ?

N: Well actually, to my , to be more, to you know, to be more focus, I like to, I like to have
some coffee in the morning, you know it would really help me awake. In addition, I think the
thing that would help me stay awake all day is like I try to get enough sleep so I would like
to so I usually sleep early at night so I would have like enough 8 hours of sleep.

D: so we have talked about the things that you do to help you concentrate, now let us talk
about some things that stop you from concentrating, what do you think ?

N: well, ye , you know, I think that would be social media, like, everytime I'm doing my work
or study on my laptop and there is like there are so many notifications come up and that
would get my attention so like I have to stop to check it and that happen so many times so
in order to you know to be more focus I usually turn it turn my phone off.

D: Ye, that is a good idea. Now let us talk about wearing jeans, do you like wearing jeans ?
N : ugh sorry ? wearing jeans ?

D: yeah do you like wearing jeans?

N:  yeah ah yeah absolutely, i really love wearing jeans. In fact, to me, jeans is some like
jeans is the kind of cloth that like the kind of basic cloth i don't have to think much when I
should wear because I have a lot of jeans and Jeans like really basic cloth and when you
know when I don't know what I should wear I just get a pair of jeans.
D:wow that is convenient. well, so why do you think jeans are so popular, why is it ?

N: uhh , i'm not, i'm not quite sure why jeans  so popular among among teenagers or even
the the elderly but i believe that .. first of all, it is not too pricy , second of all is something
that like, I'm not quite sure about this because one time I read an article about jeans in the
past and it's become so popular from then.

D: hmm alright os that was it for part number one now let us move on to part 2 of the test.
So , now, in this part, you're going to describe someone who spends their free time helping
others. So you got 1 minute to prepare, tell me whenever you are ready. Grab a piece of
paper and pen, are you ready?

N: yeah , I'm ready

D: awesome. so you have one minute.

D: so alright Nhi, just gonna stop you here. Now you have 2 minutes to talkbout this person.
You ready ?

N: yeah I'm ready

D: take it away

N: all right, so , in this second part I would like to share with you the person who I am really
admiring from my childhood, and he also likes you know spend his free time helping others.
I think that you might know this person so and you know that is Hoài Link, which is, you
know, a celebrity. and like you know he is my childhood. I watch I used to watch every his
episode in tv. Not being like a celebrity, he also being like a judge in tv shows like tv shows.
and uh he usually he usually he usually organizes funding activities so that he can like have
enough have a big amount of money in order to to help the people especially for the people
in need. well you know, one of his famous activities, he like every year he usually do that
kind of activity and help people in the middle of like in the people in the middle of Vietnam
people living in the middle of Vietnam because there are like flood very year and they are
facing difficulties. and i really feel like i really feel like what he has been doing is so great

D: I'm sorry your time is up 2 minutes is up so move on to another part. So we have been
talking about doing volunteer work, right? Now do you think is it important for people to do
volunteer work?

N: I think it is vital for us to do to do voluntary work. I'm not quite sure about the reason why
but I feel like we should do something for the society because we live in that society and like
and they like they gave us an environment, they raised us up so we should like given back
to the society to country back, but like not country back, but in some case we have to be a
good person, we have to be like good at making al lot of money, but in another aspects, we
should help people so I think it is important to do voluntary work.
D: so what kind of personality is important for people to do voluntary work?

N: umm, there are there are some characteristics that the people should have if they want
to do voluntary work. That are...

D:what is it ?
N: chết rồi em quên từ đấy r
D: it's ok. so how about this question? Can people be trained to help other people ?

N: the people like ? profession ?

D: Okay , so can people be trained, go through training to help other people?

N: Oh, No I dont think people should I dont think it is necessary to be trained before going to
helop other because when you want to help other you just do it you dont have to like be
trained or something, so yeah

D: so what do you think does charity play an important role in the economy?

N: uhmm, I am I have never been in this dicussion, I have never been in this discusion
before but I believe it is like the charity work is linked to the economy even though it quite
sounds ridiculous it quite sounds ridiculous because we doing charity work, we have to
spend money , we don't make any money from it. But when we do doing charity work, it will
like, you know, it will please the people in need. If we don't like help them, they might like
you know, they might piss off about the government doesnt have any activities to help them
at all, so they might have some like, do some protests or something and that might be
worse.

D: is fundraising for charity hard ? is  fund raising for charity hard ?

N: yeah I think it's its quite, its not very too hard, but the people who organize that fund raise
that fundraising activities, they have to be you know trustful because u know the people give
you money, and people give you money to help others but if you not like not like like you not
very trueful person, and you kind of not trueful, I think it is not silly ...

D: One last question for you Nhi. please bear with me for a few more seconds. Do you think
the government should help charity to raise fund?

N: yeah definitely, like the government should play like a big role in doing charity because i
think it is like their role to to doing that because like you know, because you know in
Vietnam we believe that the government is for people and their role is to help people. yeah
so the government should play a big role in doing charity work.

D: I see, to thank you Nhi. That also brings us to the end of our speaking test. Thank you so
much.
