1.2 WATER SUPPLY PIPES AND FITTINGS

Cold and hot water pipes shall be Polypropylene
Random Co-polymer resins (PP Type 3 raw material)
PPR pipes for cold and hot water, and be fixed to
slabs, walls, beams or etc…with metal straps or similar
material. Unit price shall include all assistance civil
works and necessary fittings such as T, bends etc.
according to where shown on the drawing. All water
pipes shall be tested with a pressure of 10kg/cm2
(10bar) at the expense of the contractor.
Unit price shall include, flushing, cleaning and
disinfection of the pipes with liquid Chlorine and all the
necessary assistance to the installation works. Flushing
has to be done to clean the pipeline from debris and
silts. Disinfecting has to be done with liquid chlorin
8-10ppm. All water pipes shall be tested with pressure
of 10kg/cm (10bar). Unit price shall include, installing
insulation to hot water pipes and fittings as and required.

1.2.3 Supply, install, test & commission galvanized steel iron pipes, Class-B

1.3 WASTE, VENT AND STORM WATER PIPES AND ACCESSORIES

All domestic waste, vent and storm water pipe lines

appropriate, using double ring seals and gaskets

be provided with a minimum slope as stated in the
drawing. Pipes and necessary fittings shall be standard
quality and be free from damage during storage,

1.A' . PRILIMINARY CONDITION

This Specification shall be read in conjunction with the

Standard Thechnical Specification for Building Works,
MODHC 2014.

This BoQ makes use of different "Methods of Measurement"

(M.M.), which handles added work volumes during
construction process. Pro Memoria (PM) means the item price
total is included in a specifically mentioned other item or in the
general price. Lump Sum (LS) means that the total item price is
a Lump Sum, with no possibility for variation in total item
price.

The contractor has fully understood the scope of works by

minutely having studied the drawings and Bill of Quantities
with specifications, and by having visited the site. He will, on
his own initiative and before the works start and in his best
ability, notify the consultant of works which are not mentioned
in the BoQ and/or the specifications and/or the drawings,
which are necessary to execute the construction as envisioned
in the drawings. Thus, after the works have started, the
contractor cannot rely on incompletions in the consultants'
work to make claims of any kind. Indeed, the contractor will
add upon the specifications according to his own insight and
professional experience. If there are works to be done which
are not specified in this BoQ, it is up to the consultant to decide
wether these works are variation works which need change
orders, or wether these works are included in the items and

(water, sewage, electricity, …) in as short a period as feasible.
The contractor will secure the structural and functional
integrity of the adjacent buildings during demolishing, as well
as of the building’s surroundings such as but not limited to
public road, gate, lawn. He will study and execute the
necessary scaffolding to support the building, in order to avoid
any cracks, settlements, or crumbling. This scaffolding to
support the building during the works are included in the prices
given. Debris will be cart away to certified debris places in
Addis Ababa. In no way, debris will be stored, buried or
burned on site.
After the works, the contractor will do a thorough cleaning of

the construction site, this means cleaning of all excess mortars,

cement bags, excess blockwork, excess tile jointing – in short

any construction remnant which hinders the proper use of the

house upon site hand-over.

In general the contractor will put his professional experience
and craftsmanship to work, in order to get a holistically well-
constructed building, to the highest and most up-to-date
standards of Ethiopian Construction Culture.

The work shall be performed by qualified personnel who have
ample experience in demolishing and safety work in order to
avoid risk in the existing structure and in human life. any
useful dismantled materials shall be kept in proper manner and
submitted to the client after proper cleaning. The contractor
shall take all the responsibility of worker discipline in order to
avoid disturbance and security issues at the work place and the
entire compound. The contractor shall protect the existing area
with approved standard plastic or other protective cover.
Contractor is advised to investigate the scope of dismantling
work before filling in prices. The Contractor should take
extreme care in protecting power and data lines through out the
construction period. The contractor shall submit methodology
and work plan for approval by the Engineer before
