Competency Based Assessment

1) The candidate worked under pressure as an online supervisor at Woolworths during the pandemic with limited staff. They divided work according to team member's comfort zones and ensured breaks were on time. 2) As part of a supermarket team, the candidate and teammates set a goal to achieve below 1% out of stock rate for a week. They made extra efforts to find items from the back rather than substituting. 3) Both situations resulted in success, with the work completed on time and customer satisfaction and the out of stock goal being achieved through team collaboration.

Assessment 1 - Skills and Knowledge Activity

Estimated time: 45 min – 60 min
Objective: To provide you with an opportunity to demonstrate your knowledge of interviewing skills please
answer each question in as much detail as possible, considering your organizational requirements for each one.
1. List 5 things you should do to prepare for a job interview.
ANS :
● Research the company.
● Research your interviewer.
● Prepare a set of questions.
● Clean and press clothes
● Consider stories from previous positions

2. Describe 3 types of positive body language to be used in an interview.

ANS :

● Have and maintain passive eye contact.

● Occasionally use hand gestures to express yourself.
● Improvise on your posture – no slouching.

3. Why is it important to ask the interviewer questions?

ANS :
Posing great inquiries during the meeting advances positive discourse and gives both the candidate and the
business an opportunity to get to know each other better. The inquiries you decide to pose can assist with
deciding the achievement level of your meeting

4. List 3 questions you could ask an interviewer.

ANS

● What types of skills is the team missing that you’re looking to fill with a new hire?
● What are the biggest challenges that someone in this position would face?
● What training programs are available to your employees?

5. If the interviewer asks you an illegal question, how should you respond. E.g. How old are you?
ANS:
Depending on the question I could refuse, answer or sidestep the question. Use a neutral and
professional tone. By pointing it out, you are putting the employer on alert that you're aware the
question is off-limits. If they continue to ask the illegal question, you do have the right not to
answer the question.

6. How should you respond to trick questions such as “What kind of people rub you up the wrong way?”
ANS:
Although the answers may be negative, we should try to give an overall positive motive. How to
deal positively with such people. The answer should show our positive mindset about people.
