Lesson 1: Sap On Cloud Platform Cloud Computing
● Cloud Computing
○ Represents a new way to deploy computing technology to give users the
ability to access, work on, share, and store information using the internet.
- Is a service, and that service is being offered to clients or the users
of that service, it will give them ability to access, work on, share and
store information, only possible using the internet.
- Example:
- Netflix; what is the computing technology or service
that it offers?
- More likely offering recreational service, more
of a personal rather than business.
- If an account holder, you are a user, ability to
access the movies, etc., to share and store info
but you cannot stream those w/o internet,
except when you download it.
- How is it possible that the datas you used while
using the netflix, didn't add up to the storage on
the device?
- Because it has its own data center
- And that is what you pay for, you
rent that data center or storage
1. Public Cloud
- Also known as External CLoud
- Available to the public where data are created and stored on
third-party servers
- Service infrastructure belongs to service providers that manage
them, and administer pool resources.
- The need for user companies to buy and maintain their own
hardware is eliminated.
- The cloud service is shared among different companies/ multiple
companies.
- Although they shared the same cloud service, those
companies still cannot see the data of the other companies
that are in those cloud services
- Advantage:
- It costs less because the maintenance of the space of the
cloud will be shouldered by the cloud owner.
- Maintenance in the perspective of the cloud includes updates,
resolving bugs and system
- Shouldered by the cloud owner
2. Private Cloud
- Also known as Internal Cloud
- Cloud based infrastructure operated exclusively for a single
organization with all data protected behind an internal firewall
- Usually physically located at the company’s on-site data center or
can also be managed and hosted by a third-party provider.
- Not shared with any other organization, which means the storage or
the services are fully owned by the organization.
- Disadvantage:
- Maintenance are shouldered by the company since they are
also the owner of that cloud
3. Hybrid
- Encompasses the best features of the both cloud computing
deployment models.
- It allows companies to mix and match the facets of public and
private cloud that best suit their requirements.
- Combination of public and private clouds
- It combines on cloud and on premises; combines public and private
environments to create a more efficient operating model.
- The use of this is for backup and recovery planning, since public
cloud can only be accessed with an internet connection.
- It is the time that the storage of the device is used to store the data.
○ 2014
- March- Huawei and SAP announced extending the SAP and
Huawei collaboration into a strategic alliance.
- July- Huawei Day was held at Waldorf, Germany, the SAP
headquarter, the opening of Huawei office in Partner Port.
○ 2015
- March- Huawei and SAP signed a MOU at CeBIT 2015 to deepen
collaboration in Industry 4.0 and IoT.
- Their partnership is so significant that their end-to-end solutions
focused on Industry 4.0 and IoT.
- Besides the local and global companies, SAP has also partners in
the academe, in which one of them is Holy Angel University.
- June- Huawei and SAP announced the opening of the HUawei and
SAP co-innovation center in Shenzhen
○ 2016
- June- SAP Greater China and Huawei Enterprise China jointly held
SAP | Huawei Forum Shenzhen.
○ 2017
- June- release KunLun Engineered System for SAP HANA based
on SAP and Huawei joint innovation and optimization.
○ 2018
- April- Huawei Cloud certified by SAP as IaaS provider including
supporting HANA and NetWeaver.
○ 2019
- “Galileo Project” for IoT industry joint solution announced joint
solution in Hannover messe 2019 and Huawei Connect 2019
● Huawei Cloud
○ Chosen partner of Fasttrack IT Academy for the deployment of SAP
Business One on Cloud to our university and collegiate partners
○ It now distills 30+ years of accumulated technology, innovation, and
expertise in the ICT infrastructure field to offer customers everything as a
service.
○ By the end of 2019, Huawei Cloud had launched 200+ cloud services and
190+ solutions
○ News agencies, social media platforms, law enforcement, automobile
manufacturers, gene sequencing organizations, financial institutions, and
a long list of other industry customers are all benefiting in significant ways
from Huawei Cloud.
○ Key Features:
■ Agility
- helps in rapid and inexpensive re-provisioning of resources.
- Something like being economical
- It means only the amount which is spent on basic
maintenance, storage needed and few more
expenses will be paid, what you get is what you pay.
- Only the services that you had obtained on that
application, that is the only thing that you will be
paying.
- If you are paying for this certain limit of storage, that
would be it. If you wish to acquire more, then you can
buy more.
■ Location Independence
- Resources can be accessed anywhere (except on limitations
set by company's internal control)
- This feature has been the proving factor of cloud computing,
the access to anywhere, anytime, and on any device.
- The user can access the data of the cloud or upload the data
to the cloud from anywhere with any device so long as he
has the internet connection.
- This is the convenience provided by cloud computing
technology.
■ Multi-Tenacity
- Resources are shared amongst a large pool of users.
- There is sharing with other organizations when it comes to
the public cloud.
- The cloud provider pooled the computing resources to
provide services to multiple customers.
- There are different physical and virtual resources assigned
depending on the demand of the customer.
■ Reliability
- Dependable accessibility of resources and computation.
- Also security
- Data may not get lost even if one of the servers is
damaged.
- The data is stored within the storage devices, which
cannot be handled by any other person.
- Loss of information rarely happens when you are
using cloud storage.
■ Scalability
- Dynamic provisioning of data helps in avoiding various
bottleneck scenarios.
- The users can monitor his storage usage and can always
upgrade when necessary to avoid some bottleneck
scenarios.
- If you know that you are already reaching your limit, the
cloud computing technology usually offers upgrades in the
data storage.
- You can always have that so you can avoid those
certain problems in the future.
■ Ease of Maintenance
- Organizations have less work in terms of resource upgrades
and management, handled by service providers of cloud
computing.
- The services that you acquired with that cloud computing
technology are easily maintained, since the maintenance is
usually done by the owner of the computing technology.
- When it comes to ease of maintenance, their downtime is
very low, sometimes none.
- You will only encounter it when you don’t have an internet
connection. So long as you have an internet connection,
you can have these features of cloud computing.
- In private cloud maintenance, problems like software viruses
that would affect files or computers, that would be their
downtime, unlike in public cloud storage, it rarely happens.
- Cloud computing also comes with an upgrade to gradually
make it better.
- Its purpose is to improve the services of that certain
technology.
