“TITLE: Knowledge over Wisdom”

Most people think that knowledge and wisdom are the same but actually, they are two
different sides of the same coin. Knowledge is the facts, information, and skills acquired through
learning or education while wisdom is the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good
judgment. In other words, wisdom refers to the sensible application of knowledge. Both
knowledge and wisdom are the qualities we aspire to gain in life.
Knowledge refers to the facts, information, and skills acquired through learning and
education. It can be also defined as understanding a specific subject or topic and being aware of
certain ideas. But how did we acquire knowledge? We can acquire knowledge through different
methods such as learning, education, training and some may acquire it through observation. For
example, one of the main reasons we go to school is to study to learn new facts, ideas, and
information. We also acquire skills through learning. The result of this learning process is
acquiring new knowledge. Knowledge about specific subjects or topics is essential in everyday
life. For example, we need to remember the details about the place or have the ability to find a
location of course to not get lost.
Wisdom, on the other hand, is the ability to recognize or determine what is true, right, or long-
lasting. Wisdom consists of knowledge, experience, and good judgment. Although a person
cannot have wisdom without having knowledge, being knowledgeable about something does not
always imply wisdom. Wisdom can also refer to the application of the knowledge you have. For
instance, you may know how to use a weapon, but wisdom is knowing when to use it. Wisdom
cannot be gained solely through learning or education; it requires both experience and smart
judgment.
I will end this essay with a simple philosophy that “Knowledge is knowing that a tomato
is a fruit, wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad”
