Before you start the preparation of making a business plan, you need to understand first the
macro view of entrepreneurship. This module will teach you the basics of entrepreneurship and the key
concepts and core competencies which are required skills to become a successful entrepreneur.

What is Entrepreneurship?
It is defined as the process of planning, designing, launching, developing, managing and running a business venture to
make a profit.

It is also defined as the capacity and willingness to organize, develop and manage a business venture along with any of
its risks in order to make a profit.

Profit refers to the rewards for business persons who take the risks involved in producing and marketing goods and

a business, acknowledging all the risks and reaping its rewards.

An entrepreneur is considered successful if the business that he or she envisioned has materialized into a thriving
industry with regular customers and financial gain.
He or she will then decide either to maintain his or her business or expand.

Like other vocations, being an entrepreneur is also a calling. It is not a career that one can jump into when he or she
decides so. It entails a holistic business talent and characteristics to be considered one.

-They are confident with the knowledge that they will make their business succeed.
2) Risk-taking
-As an entrepreneur you can’t fear risk, because you take it everyday.
3) Ability to communicate with people

-The world is constantly changing so you have to adapt to all the changes.

-It takes courage to be an entrepreneur. Doing what others think you cannot and keep doing it even when plenty
