Physical Education and History
Objectives:

Share their ideas about physical education and its values in the individual

Discuss the history of physical education and the importance of this in our daily life.
Success is your desire. It all depends on your physical condition and your activities to
maintain physical health. Physical Education or physical fitness, whatever term it may apply, it all
relates to the total wellbeing of a person, and this total well-being is the most basic requirement to
reach success, the object of your desire. It is the success in your education, your career and of course
your life as a whole.

1. Share your thoughts or ideas about the importance of physical education as one of your
subjects in your course. ( 5pts.)
- Physical education is important in every student’s course. Because this serves as a stress
reliever of the students. This subject can be used as the relaxation time or meditation
because we exercise. In exercising, we can practice how to control our emotions to motivate
ourselves to study more. Because physical education can boost our confidence and helps us
to go out in our space to have confidence.
2. As an individual or student: How it can help your physical attributes ( 5 pts.)
- As a student, physical education can helps me to concentrate and focus in my goal. Because
it can relax my mind by exercising. Also this can helps us to be more physically fit. The
physical activities can helps us to relieve the stress that we have because we are enjoying in
playing. While we are enjoying the stress that we feel are lessen.

1. Enumerate policies and guidelines on the physical education course. Why is it important in
physical Education? ( 8 pts.)
- For me, the policy and guidelines in the physical education consist of attendance because
attendance is a must in every school. Also, it is needed to discipline the students. Because
the physical education course is the one who is responsible for taking care of the students
heath and the students potential as an athlete. This course is important because it practice
individuals hobbies and sports without injuries occurring. This course trains the students to
mold each other’s potentials in their sports or hobbies.
2. Explain the three important aspects of a person that can be developed in physical Education. ( 9
pts.)
- The three important aspects of a person in physical education are, first is the psychomotor.
This is about building up the physical strength of a person. The example for this are
flexibility, body composition, muscular strength and endurance and cardio – respiratory
endurance. The second aspect is the cognitive, it is an intellective capabilities of a person.
The physical education develops the students knowledge in solving problems. For example
is understanding the rules that is provided in the sports. Lastly is the affective, this aspect
develops the emotional skills of the students. The physical education aims the students to
discipline, self – control and honest. Because the games are usually played by teams that can
develop sportsmanship, leadership and cooperation of each other.
3. Why do we need health and safety guidelines in physical education? ( 5 pts.)
- We need health and safety guidelines in order to avoid injuries. Because, most of the
individual in sports gets injured because of wrong movements. For example in basketball,
you need to learn how to play it and what are the guidelines to avoid injuries.
Romans 2. Their system of physical education was more on athletics, people were forced to fight even
to the point of death.
Rousseau 3. He was the first person to promote education for the masses.
Guts Muths 4. He developed a series of gymnastic apparatuses and believed that physically, develop very
important social skills.
Athenian 5. Their culture was very democratic and focused on training the mind and body.
Lesson 2:
Physical Fitness and its components
Objectives:
• Understand the components of physical fitness
• Make a record of their height, weight and BMI in preparation of a physical fitness test.
• Develop honesty and acceptance of one’s ability in the performance of different skills in
Physical Education.
According to Samuel Aunwear, you only get one body. It is the temple of your soul. Even
God is willing to dwell there, if you truly treat your body like a temple, it will serve you
well for decades. If you abuse it you must be prepared for poor health and a lack of energy.

1. What are the two components of physical fitness and each kinds? ( 20 pts.)
- Physical Fitness is a test that measure the individuals fitness level. There are two components of
physical fitness. It is the health related and skills related. Health related are composed of body
composition, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, cardiovascular strength, muscular endurance and
strength. While the skills related is composed of agility, balance, coordination, speed, reaction time and
power.
