A PROJECT SYNOPSIS
ON
RESTAURANT MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
This Online Restaurant Management System project is for managing the online bookings of
customers for the food in a restaurant. The traditional system is a restaurant paper menu and
ordering system is replaced with an electronic medium web based project or application. Due to
a digitalized system, the risk of manual errors is eliminated, thus eliminating the communication
barrier. This self-service fast food restaurant will be equipped with a user-friendly touch screen,
a credit/debit card reader, and software for completing the process at the backend. For this
system there will be a system administrator who will have the rights to enter the menu with their
current prevailing prices. He/she can enter anytime in the system by a secured system
password to change the menu contents by adding or deleting an item or changing its price.

Now when the customer enters the restaurant, he will place his order with the help of the
touch screen using the intuitive graphical user interface, right from the selection of language till
the payment confirmation. He will select from the food options according to his choice and the
system will display the payment amount he has to make once he has finished with his order.

ABSTRACT
We propose to build a software project that can efficiently handle and manage various activities
of a restaurant and all these activities will be happening under the supervision of the
administrator. The businesses in restaurants are now growing constantly. At the same time, the
need for managing its operations and tasks arises. The best way to optimize these activities is
growing the business online as well. Today's generation encourages high-tech services
especially over the Internet. Hence the project is developed proficiently to help restaurant
owners automate their business operations. This project serves the best way of maintaining
customer's information and caters their needs.

MODULES
 Admin Account: The project has admin login that controls all the online activities in the
system. Admin can check and verify various member details. He can even approve or
disapprove table booking requests.
 User Account: Users have to first create an account into the system by registering
themselves. Then he/she can login into the system to avail various services.
 View Customers: The admin can view the information of the customers who have
placed the order and also the date and the timing information along with the table
numbers that the customer has placed order for.
 Restaurant table booking: The system has a graphical view of tables that user can
select or deselect from the available slot in the system. The booking system is such that
already booked tables are shown in red color and the available ones in usual color.
These bookings can be seen by admin from his account and he may approve or
disapprove the request.
 Check Status- The user can check status of his order i.e. whether the order is being
approved by the admin.

OBJECTIVES
1. This will minimize the number of employees at the back of the counter.
2. The system will help to reduce the cost of labor.
3. The system will be less probable to make mistake, since it’s a machine.
4. This will avoid long queues at the counter due to the speed of execution and number of
optimum screens to accommodate the maximum throughput.

SYSTEM SPECIFICATION
The hardware and software requirements for the development phase of our projects are:
Software Requirements:
 Frontend : HTML, CSS, JAVASCRIPT, BOOTSTRAP
 Backend Database : NODEJS, MONGO DB, CHROME API
 Internet Browser : Any updated internet browser

Hardware Components:
 Processor – Intel Pentium, i3
 Hard Disk – 60 GB (or above)
 Memory – 4GB RAM
 Network interface card
