CASE STUDY ANALYSIS
INTRODUCTION :-
The given case study deals with the lack of self esteem of a boy named Avinish. The
story portrays how the boy had challenges with his family and society due to his anger issues.

TITLE:-
DESTRUCTION DUE TO LACK OF SELF-ESTEEM IN TEENAGERS

BREIF SUMMARY OF THE CASE :-


Avinish a 16 year old boy reportedly studying in 10th, had no interest in studies and was
suspended multiple times from the school. He had a nuclear family. His father was against his
actions and used to handle the situation with anger which was not accepted by Avinish. He
used to have constant quarrels with his father and due to this he used to vandalize anything in
front of him. He used to run a gang and had a formidable character. Bullying and teasing was
his daily routine. Due to the complaints from the neighbors, His father took medical help
which had no results. Finally his father sought the help of a professional and a number of
issues were listed out. Avinish revealed about his anger and emotional needs after some
reluctance and finally showed some interest towards business. He then worked under his
uncle and improved his life by acquiring new skills yet felt ambition less sometimes. He had
a great change in himself and left the notorious life he used to lead.

 The anger issues of Avinish is reflected from his father. Due to the stringent behavior
of his father towards him, He grew more in anger to the point he vandalizes his
household property.

 Father possessed an aggressive personality of intolerance towards the words of others,


due to which Avinish’s emotional state was never understood.

 His mother and younger brother were submissive to his father’s commands and were
incapable of helping Avinish.

 Sandy’s Efforts of helping Avinish were worthless due to his way of solving things in
frustration and anger.

 Avinish escaping from his failures and sour relations with family developed a
formidable character and started bullying, teasing and even physically fighting other
children. He was energetic but did not utilize it in a positive manner

 Having sour relations with his family, he had no expectations from them nor did he
have a future goal.

ANALYSIS AND INTERPRETATION :-

 The root cause of anger of Avinish is due to his father. Sandy always shows
intolerance and aggressiveness if anyone goes against his words. This character of
aggressiveness is reflected in Avinish as well. Sandy must respond to his son’s
mistakes and failures rather than reacting to it by being emotionally available,
empathic and listening to his problem instead of reprimanding .

 Avinish due to his deteriorating family relation and his constant failures at school
developed a low self esteem about himself which resulted him having no ambition in
his life. He must adapt to change and develop his self esteem with right inspiration
and motivation, which he may receive in school.
RECOMMENDATION AND SUGGESTION :-

According to the case study the family wishes good for Avinish but is incapable of directing
him in the right direction. In this case Avinish was helped by a professional and finally
expressed his interest towards owning a shop.
Avinish mentions that even after having control over his anger and acquiring skills he
sometimes feels aimless. In this case he must concentrate more on achieving his goal by
recommencing his studies and acquire more knowledge in the business field . The more he
acquires knowledge the more he comes closer to the goal. He should be motivated constantly
which will boost his self esteem. These factors will eventually lead him to success.

CONCLUSION :-
Avinish was led on the right path with true guidance. In this case, In order to lead someone in
the right path one must comprehend the person’s emotional state and give opportunities to
them to express themselves.

(b)
If I were to be the Father of Avinish I would have tried to understand the problem and
challenges Avinish is facing by being emotionally available and empathic to him, I would
give him opportunities to express himself and give him a proper advice and ideas to
overcome his failure at school. I wouldn’t have expressed anger often. This would have
allowed Avinish to understand and respond to the situation calmly rather than reacting to it.
