The phrasal verbs with an asterisk (*) are ​ INSEPARABLE. 
 
When the direct object is a ​
PRONOUN​ , it must be placed in the middle of a two­word phrasal 
Example: Larry took her out.  NOT: ​
verb.  ​ Larry took out her.   
 
 
Take apart   to disassemble  Kevin took his gun apart to clean it.  

to return to a store  My new computer is so slow!  I’m going to take it back to the store. 
Take back  to retract   I am sorry I called you that name.  I take it back. 
to make (sb) nostalgic  The smell of her perfume took me back to better days. 

Take down   to disassemble and/or remove   We always take our Christmas tree down in January.  

 to adopt  Brad and Angelina have taken in many children. 
Take in 
 to absorb everything  Joyce really loved the opera last night, she took in everything. 

*to depart   What time does our flight take off? 
Take off  to remove  I always take my shoes off when I get home.
