How Does Socialization Affect The Creation of One's Identity?

Socialization affects the creation of one's identity in three key ways: 1) Through socialization, individuals learn to perceive the world and gain a sense of their own identity; 2) Socialization teaches how to interact appropriately with others according to social norms; 3) Interacting with others allows one to discover themselves and form judgements about their own talents and career, contributing to identity formation. Sociobiologists and social learning theorists differ in their explanations of human culture acquisition: 1) Sociobiologists view it as determined by genes and biology; 2) Social learning theorists emphasize learning from the environment rather than inherent mental dispositions or genes; 3) The relationship between sociobiology and related fields like evolutionary psychology is both

1. How does socialization affect the creation of one’s identity?

Socialization is the process by which individuals learn their culture and learn to
live according to the norms of their society. Through socialization, we learn how
to perceive our world, gain a sense of our own identity, and discover how to
interact appropriately with others. Socialization makes an individual more
confident. ... Hence socialization leads to a boost in one’s career or talent and
thus helps in identity formation. The more we interact with people, the more
we discover ourselves and form judgements about ourselves as well as others.

2. How are sociobiologists and social learning theorists dissimilar in their

explanation of culture acquisition of humans?

Sociobiology is, as the term suggests, the biology of animal and human society.
Sociobiology preceded and developed into evolutionary psychology, which
features mental dispositions more than genes as the evolutionary determinants.
The relationship of the two disciplines is both congenial and contested.
