Migrating Tool Libraries

If you’re using NX CAM and upgrading from one release to the next (e.g NX9 to NX10),
you may want to carry across your tool library.
You must convert the library before trying to use it in the newer release otherwise you’ll
most likely get unusual TCL errors. This is because the classes for tools are updated all
the time and you may be specifying a parameter that is obsolete or changed.
Before starting, make a backup copy of your current library. If you search for
UGII_CAM_LIBRARY_TOOL in your NX log, you’ll find the metric and english folder where
the libraries live.
Then you can run the Menu -> Tools -> Convert Tool Library and then browse for the
current tool_database.dat file.
This will then migrate that library and the other connected library files.
For more information, search for “Migrating custom tools to a new version of NX” in the
NX documentation.
