Spyderco's Italian Made Limited-Edition Urban Sprint Run of Damasteel Björkmans Twist Steel
I’ve often stated that the most creative group of entrepreneurs are knife makers and designers,
and this limited-edition Sprint Run folder is an example of that talent. If I were to pick an
executive pocketknife Sprint Run would be at the top of my list for a few reasons.
This Spyderco offering is manufactured in Maniago Italy, and one thing is certain, Italians will
not be outdone when it comes to styling and artistic design. If you’re scratching your head, this
knife is crafted from Swedish origin Damasteel DS93X, which consists of two different
hardenable knife steel grades. It combines corrosion resistance with superior strength. A
unique cutting ability is achieved through superior edge properties; it’s easy to maintain.
Overall, it’s an excellent steel for edge tools such as knives, and it’s available in a variety of
patterns. Interestingly enough, no two patterns are exactly alike.
This very classy offering exceeds what I call office letter opening duty. It features Spyderco’s
classic flat ground leaf blade profile with an industry wide reputation for robustness.
However, what’s exciting is the absence of a locking blade mechanism, so if you have a special
someone in places like the United Kingdom, you can gift it freely.
To make sure that the Urban Sprint Run can be used safely,
Spyderco included jimping along the top and bottom of its blade
axis point.
The non-locking mechanism is enclosed in smooth white G-10 scales completing its gorgeous
esthetics.
Spyderco chose a reversible wire clip that allows this knife to sit deeply in the pocket and will
not damage your Armani or Saville Row attire.
As of this writing, the Urban Sprint Run remains a limited edition but there’s considerable
demand for what is undoubtedly a very elegant pocket folder of superb quality and
construction. It’s not surprising to see something like it coming from a global cutlery
manufacturer like Spyderco.
