The DEPED Grading System

The DepEd grading system uses standards-based assessments for kindergarten students in the form of checklists and portfolios, while grades 1-12 utilize quarterly exams, written work and performance tasks. Final grades are calculated by adding scores from each assessment component, converting them to percentages, applying weights, and summing the weighted scores. Students must earn a final grade of 75 or higher in all subjects to be promoted to the next grade level. The document provides steps for teachers to accurately record grades using the DepEd system.

How is learner progress recorded and computed?

For Kindergarten
-Checklists and anecdotal records are used instead of numerical grades

For Graded 1 - 12
-One quarterly assessment in one grading period
- should produce written work and to demonstrate what they know and can do through performance
task

How to Compute for Final Grades and General Average in DepEd K-12 garding system

STEP 1: Grade from all student work are added up.

STEP 2:The Sum for each component is converted to the Percentage Score.
STEP 3: Percentage scores are then converted to weighted scores to show the importance of each
component in promoting learning in the different subjects
STEP 4: The sum of the Weighted scores in each component is the Initial Grade.
STEP 5: The Quarterly Grade for each learning area is written in the report of the student.

How are grades are computed in the end of the school year?

How to Record and Compute your Grades on K-12 Grading System

- Every grading period, the students must complete one quarterly assessment and several written
works and performance tasks.

How to Compute Your Final Grade and General Average

1. Add up all the total score for each component.
2. Convert the sum for each component to percentage score. Divide the total raw score
by the highest possible score, then multiply the quotient by 100%.
3. Convert the percentage scores to weighted scores.
4. Sum up the weighted scores of each component to get the initial grade.
5. Transmute the initial grade to get the quarterly grade using the new transmutation table.
Solving the grades of the students is not easy because there should be rules and steps that needs to
be followed. Teachers should check and observe all students performance and written outputs so that
they will be given grades that they deserved. I observed that every grade level are given activities that
are appropriate to their capabilities and for me as a future teacher, you should motivate your
students to do their best and we should not pressure them to get higher grades. We just need to
support them.
