Analysis of Constraints
Analysis of Constraints
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
During pre-production we carried out risk assessment which made us highlight some of the key
aspects when filming. This included the hazards which are lighting and electrical hazards. So I made
sure the following hazards didn’t happen.
Lighting can heat up so making sure that that people are away from lighting which is kept
on.
Making sure that an electrical hazard does not occur for example when taking the
equipment out not getting any water on the equipment.
Holding the equipment appropriately and not to run around with equipment in the hand.
Having no food or drinks near the equipment when filming or anything which could damage
the equipment.
Making sure that all the wires of equipment are kept safely and no wires are left loose.
These hazards could have affected my product negatively by damaging my equipment which
means not being able to film any footage.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This affected my product positively by not harming anyone and following the risk assessment which I
had made. While making this risk assessment I made sure me though what I would need to think
about in terms of hazards and also the most common ones.
Legal-Copyright:
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
Copyright can affect my product negatively by not asking permission for something, a very common
example of copyright would be when using a video for my product but not asking permission of that
person who has posted or made the video or even paying the person any royalty fees. However
before filming my product I has given this a lot of thought and as this is a school project i have not
asked permission but if this was a real production I would have owed a lot of people fees. The things
that people have would have copyright to be images, videos which can be sold for people to use in
their work.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This would affected my product positively because I went through my Copyright rules and managed
to keep within the rules, for example I asked permission for any videos which I used that needed
permission and any royalty fees. But because this was a school product I didn’t have any major
people to ask for permission but if it was a real production I would have to pay a few people for the
royalty fees.
Legal-libel:
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
The law of Libel might affect my product negatively if I had offended someone’s freedom of
expression for example in my documentary if I had said something about someone which
wasn’t true I would then be sued for doing that. So while planning and research of this
documentary I thought this through and made sure that whatever I was going to say about a
person I would back it with evidence. But as this was a school project I managed to keep
within the rules of libel.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This could affect my documentary positively by having the right information about people
and also having the right evidence to back that. For example in my documentary I had an
interview with Gurdeep Singh who was the manager of Virsa Punjab dhol class, and to
support this I have shown achieve footage of him playing and teaching dhol to other people.
However this was a school project I still managed to keep to the rules of libel.
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
The law of Data Protection could affect my documentary negatively because this law means
not supplying anyone’s information for example their contact details without their
permission. And for this project we posted contact details of people that we need for the
documentary but this was a school project so it was not as bad. If this was a real project and
I had broken the data projection rules like posting people personal details online without
their permission I could have been fined £5000, for this task we were asked to produce a
contact list with contact name and details. And also the details should be deleted after the
purpose has been fore filled.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This could affect my documentary/product positively by when doing the research and
planning of this product I had through about whom to ask and ask them for permission if I
could put their contact details on the internet that was because firstly this is a school project
and I also know the people that I have asked. However I did put a few personal details on
the blog.
Legal and Ethical- race and ethnicity:
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
My documentary was about the Indian instrument the dhol, so I had to aim the
documentary at that ethnic group. But my document had to aim to a mainstream audience
which was a little hard because most ethnic groups were not as interested in this type of
topic. Because my documentary was aimed mainly towards the Indian ethnicity I still had to
take into account that other ethnic groups believes and that nothing would offend them.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
If in my documentary I had broken someone’s privacy which example filming them without their
permission or having their footage on the internet without their permission. But luckily I did not do
that when filming I made sure that I asked permission of who I was filming and why they would be in
my documentary. And also I would also tell them that their information would be protected by me
and no one else would access it.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
In my documentary I felt that I didn’t break anyone’s privacy by showing their personal lives without
their permission I had asked them. That was because when the planning and research stage of this
project I had told all my contributors about this project.
Project specific-Bud
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This is a school production, but if this was a real production from the budget diagram above you can
see that using editing equipment for 1 day cost £1,000 but I used the equipment for approxmently 2
weeks which worked out more than I expected that was because we had only a budget to work with
which Is £5,000 so that means I would have gone over budget. The budget was a restriction to many
things that I could have done in my documentary. The other cost which I had made was the cost of
the flight to India which cost £495 and then the other cost arrangements I had there, I would also
give a though how the documentary would have been if I had filmed here rather than in India.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This could have affected by product positively by saving money on a few things for example on crew
members and also the actors who would charge a lot to film. But because I knew the people that
where going to be in my documentary so for that reason they didn’t charge as much.
Project specific-Technology:
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This might have affected by product negatively by not having all the equipment which I could have
had for example by having a faulty camera which might not work. But I think that the equipment
which I used was very well working and didn’t have any faults. So the production side of my
documentary was very productive and the equipment was helpful. Another point which I considered
was the fact that when editing the software was very useful and also it was up to date with the
software which was good when editing my documentary.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
If I had a higher budget for this documentary maybe I would have had better style of filming for
example different shot types to make the documentary appeal to the target audience which is 16-24
but as this was only a school project I had to make do with the budget that we had although it was
over budget.
How might it affect your product negatively? (Planning and research as well as production):
My product could be affected negatively by this OFCOM/BBC regulation if I had the following
regulations that I have broken:
Secret Filming
Secret filming in media production is when you are filming in a location which you have not asked
permission for.
Using any of the above rules which are the OFCOM regulations I think that I haven’t broken
any of them for exam secret filming I have always asked permission of someone when
wanted to filming.
How might it affect your product positively? (Planning and research as well as production):
This could affect my product positively by when doing the planning and research of this product I
considered these things for example asking people for their permission when I was going to film
them for my documentary.
