Task 1: The Organelles

After this task, I will be able to


1. Identify the different organelles present in plant and animal cells

Material required: Rubber sheet outline, fevicol, modeling clays, beads, rubber
sheet cuts.

1. What are the common organelles present in plant and animal cells?

 They both contain membrane-bound organelles such as the nucleus,


mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum, golgi apparatus and cytoplasm.

Task 2: Plant vs Animal Cells

After this task, I will be able to


1. Observe the difference in the cells, based on the organelles present

organelle of cell. Find out about it.

2. Cell walls are present in bacteria, protozoans, plants, fungi. Are all these cell
walls similar in function and nature?

3. There are free floating ribosomes and membrane bound ribosomes in a cell. Do
they carry out similar functions or they differ? Explore and find out.

Yes. Only at the embryonic stage, all stem cells have same structure and
functions. During differentiation, they acquire specific receptors on their
membranes, and become specialized to perform a function.

2. How do the different cells become specialized?

Differentiation is the process by which unspecialized structures become


modified and specialized for performing specific functions. Differentiation
begins as soon as the cells have been formed. When cells become
specialized to perform a particular function they often lose the ability to
carry out other functions.

3. Which organelle is helpful in the process of photosynthesis?

Chloroplast is the organelle which plays a major role in the process of


photosynthesis.
