Material/ Economic Self: Group 5 Uts

This document discusses the concept of material self. It begins by stating the learning objectives, which are to define material self, describe how it affects people, and explain the relationship between possessions and extended self. It then introduces an activity called "Bag Raid" where students list the contents of their bags and their estimated costs. The document goes on to discuss William James' view of the material self and how it includes possessions like clothes, family, and home. It also covers how possessions can become part of one's extended self through the psychological process of cathexis, and the idea that losing possessions can feel like losing part of oneself. The discussion concludes by thanking the reader.
