1- Design a strip footing to support wall of thickness b = 0.3 [m], carrying a load of
p = 500 [kN/m]. The allowable soil pressure is qall = 150 [kN/m2] at a depth of Df =
1.5 [m] and unit weight of soil is 𝛾𝑠 = 18 [kN/m3].
2- Design a square footing of column 0.50x0.50 [m2] reinforced by 4𝜑18 , carrying
a load of p= 1600 [KN] . The allowable soil pressure is qall = 120 [kN/m2] at a
depth of Df =1.5 [m] and unit weight of soil is 𝛾𝑠=18 [kN/m3].
3- Design a rectangular footing of column 0.30x0.30 [m2] reinforced by 6𝜑18,
carrying a load of p= 1500 [KN]. The allowable soil pressure is qall = 130 [kN/m2] at
a depth of Df =1.2 [m] and unit weight of soil is 𝛾𝑠=18 [kN/m3].
4- Design a rectangular footing for an exterior column C1 of a load of 1500 [kN]
and an interior column C2 of a load of 2500 [kN] with 4.0 m spacing. Column C1 is
0.50×0.60 [m2] and reinforced by 12Φ18, while column C 2 is 0.60×0.60 [m2] and
reinforced by 14Φ18. The allowable soil pressure qall = 180 [kN/m2] at a depth of
Df = 2 [m].
5- Design a combined footing for three equal columns, each of 0.50×0.50 [m],
reinforced by 4Ф19, carrying a load of P = 1200 [kN]. The distance center to center
of columns is 3.50 [m]. The allowable soil pressure is qall = 200 [kN/m2] at a depth
of Df= 2.0 [m].
6- Design a strap footing for an exterior column load of P1 = 1250 [kN] and an
interior column with a load of P2 = 1750 [kN]. Allowable bearing capacity of the
soil is qall = 210 [kN/m2] at a depth of Df = 2.0 [m] each of 0.5×0.5 [m], The
distance center to center of columns is 5 [m].
7- Design a strap footing for two equal edge columns, each of 0.5×0.5 [m2],
reinforced by 4Ф18, carrying a load of P = 1800 [kN]. The distance center to center
of columns is 8.0 [m]. The allowable soil pressure is q all = 200 [kN/m2] at a depth
of Df = 2.0 [m].
