Language resources on the internet

It is widely acknowledged that the internet is a valuable resource for teaching-learning process
for both teachers and students because it provides easy access to information and
communication opportunities. Teachers can use the internet for many purposes, such as
planning lessons, searching activities, and materials development.
Teachers also assist students in using Internet resources for assignments and projects. When
the internet has become a valuable teaching-learning tool, teachers and students should
develop their internet using skills and emphasize technology literacy skills such as accessing,
retrieving, evaluating, and applying information.

Occasionally, teachers have to look for other resources to complement their class activities in
order to make the lesson more lively or engaging. Several websites provide students with
material for preparing for exams or even to complete a class project.
With a simple online search, the teacher can find many materials that can be used in the
classroom. If your teacher has access to the internet and a printer, he will find inspiring ideas
and activities for your classes.
We commonly use a browser to access the internet, such as Google, Mozilla, Internet Explorer,
or one of the hundreds of other browsers, and type the kind of material or resource we are
searching for.
Materials and tools:
Making the most of the internet in class can be advantageous. For instance, sometimes, you
can access the associated resources of the course books only on their web pages. Internet
resources have several advantages:
-Learners can gain input into the language learning process by using the internet.
-Communication in this form gives more opportunities for self-expression and more chances for
interaction; in turn, confidence increases in trying out the second language.
-It is the most valuable source of information not available in books; it can be used as an
encyclopedia and is very valuable for promoting critical thinking skills.
-Additionally, it allows learners to have a greater variety of speech discourse while using more
complex language, so it is beneficial not just for quantity but also for quality.
-The Internet provides students with additional language resources such as reading texts,
pronunciation exercises, etc., that they can use to enhance their language skills.
-Using the Internet is an excellent way of experiencing and presenting creative works such as
essays, stories, and poetry and supplementing language learning in specific fields.
Disadvantages of using internet resources:
-There are times when resources found on the web are difficult to use, although they are often in
PDF format, which requires a teacher to edit and adapt it to fit the lesson.
-It is crucial for the teacher to ensure the resource is relevant and reliable for the lesson before
using it.
-The purchase of computers and internet access can be expensive; in addition, to search,
adapt, and use internet resources, some equipment should be purchased, such as a printer,
which can be very costly.
-It is vital that teachers learn how to fix computers or to use technology in the classroom.
Computers can break down or have technical issues, so they should be trained in repair and
Information Technologies.
Online teaching versus classroom-based programs-strengths and weaknesses:

In recent years, technology has made online learning and teaching more prevalent, as
individuals who don’t have enough time because of work or financial responsibilities are
choosing to study online. Online courses allow students to learn at their own pace and acquire
the same knowledge that they would gain through a classroom-based program.
The term 'online learning' accurately describes what online learning entails, learning from the
internet. It is commonly called e-learning, which is interchangeable with distance learning.
Classroom learning occurs when a teacher moderates and controls information flow before
students conduct written exercises at home to deepen their understanding.
-Online and traditional classes both demand that teachers manage their time well. In the
classroom, the teacher is responsible for finding the proper resources and materials for
students. In contrast, in online learning, the student has to obtain and learn course materials in
his own time.
E-learning lacks teacher-student interaction, while face-to-face communication in a classroom
creates a different dynamic in every class. Assigning homework for small groups in online
courses would be challenging since the teacher must use forums, chat rooms, and other online
discussion media to create the community. Furthermore, the online courses do not allow the
teacher to get to know the students better since communication is only electronic. In contrast, in
a traditional classroom, the student is supported and builds a relationship with the teacher.
-It is possible for traditional classroom teachers to provide virtually all types of assessment, such
as testing, written work, and oral exams. However, online courses have fewer assignment
options for students.
