Museo Sugbo (Cebu Provincial Museum)
Museum housed inside what was once the
provincial jail of Cebu. It was designed in 1869 by
Don Domingo de Escondrillas, and construction
commenced in 1871. It is said that the huge coral
stone blocks of the Parian Church nearby were
used to build the prison walls after the church
was demolished in the 1870s.
The building itself has a fairly dark history: it has
held members of the Katipunan who fought for
independence from Spain and was also used by
the Japanese secret police to hold and torture
guerrillas during the occupation and later, after
the war, to imprison those who collaborated with
them.

two-storey house built in the mid-19th
century in the historic Parian district of Cebu
City. During the Spanish colonial era, the
Parian district was the most prestigious

prominent families.
The house was built by Alejandro Reynes y
Rosales and was later bought in 1863 by a
Spanish merchant, Juan Isidro de Gorordo.
Four generations of the Gorordo family
resided in the house from 1863 to 1979.
Among its residents was Juan Gorordo, the
