1.0 METHODOLGY
A- Cracks appears in concrete surface

1.1 Implementation Steps:

o All defective areas will be delineated and marked out on site by the
site supervisor.

o The first steps are to clean the cracks that have been
contaminated; to the extent this is possible and practical.
Contaminants such as oil, grease, dirt or fine particles of concrete
prevent grouting penetration and bonding, and reduce the
effectiveness of repairs. Preferably, contamination should be
removed by vacuuming or flushing with water or other especially
effective cleaning solution.

o All defective concrete will be removed by using appropriate tools

and equipment.

o Putting the grout in the bucket and adding the water slowly until the
basis be elastic and suitable to be stretched.
o The grout should be putted in stages for defective areas with more
than 5cm.

o For less than 5cm the grout shall be done in one stage.

o Tool is used for individual grout on the early stages of one or

several stages by spraying with water first element of cleanliness
and to prevent absorption of water by the concrete.

B- Honeycomb in concrete repair

o Remove loose concrete or loosened aggregate by hammer or

wire brush.
o Prevent the application by large forces such as electrical chippers
to avoid sound concrete damage around the honey comp area.
o Clean any dirt or loose material from the area.
o Wet the cleaned area before applying the repair material.
o Fill small voids and cracks with suitable material as approved non
shrinkage grout.
o If honeycomb covers a large area, you may need to create a
patch hole to ensure proper bonding.
o Place formworks if necessary, and pour the grout.

o The filling process should be on a 15mm thickness layer if the

depth of honeycombing is grater than 5cm its recommended to
wait for a while 30min before applying the next layer.
o Repair material strength should match the virgin concrete of the
structural element.

C- Broken concrete edges

o Drill a hole into the center of the break into which you can insert
a steel dowel.
o Clean the broken edges of the concrete element and blow out
the hole, coat the rod and the hole with bonding material, and
pound it in, leaving half its length sticking out.
o Apply approved bonding agent to the broken edges.
o Place formwork for broken edges.
o Filling process by approved non shrinkage grout match with
thickness.
o After 24hrs remove formwork

1.2 Inspection of Isolation:

o Making first inspection after finishing the cleanness of the surface

and make the preparation to accept the material of the repair
(approved grout).
o Making the final view after finishing the repair with the material and
curing of it and the surface should be homogeneous with concrete
surface.

1.3 Final:

o According to previous steps (RME) cover all steps of the job works
and achieved its goals in repairing concrete surface from honey
combs and cracks and showed the ideal way to protect the work
and repair it in safety manners.
